Missoula, MT - downtown. It's small, but that also means there are fewer buskers to compete with.

Panhandling is legal here, and it's basically a hippie college town, so I would be absolutely shocked if anyone cared. And if people will give money to the "homeless" guy who they saw park his Segway behind the Wendy's five minutes before, they'll definitely give money for some tunes.

Not to take the thread off topic but all homeless people should definitely have segways.

I'm not even kidding. I saw the guy park the thing, walk around the building and start holding up his sign reading "So hungry. Anything helps."
:wha?:

Well Minneapolis seems to be pretty good, hell theres beggars everywhere but no performers.

If it get too cold you can always go in one of the skyways downtown by the Target Center, I see guys playing drums there all the time before Timberwolves games :idk:

Yes! Then go to campus and play, then play a show at a venue! Play thrice in one day! I'll be at all of them!

Eugene Oregon. SOoo many hippies and runaways, but all types of buskers are welcome. Come in the summer time when the sky turns from grey to blue.

I've never busked in Chicago, but I've seen the police hassle others. The homeless are required to wear some sort of permit when they beg on the street; not sure what's up with that but they may try to hassle you under some homeless/vagrant law if you don't have one of those, as well.

For real, seriously, go to the lovely city of Denton, Texas. you won't regret it.
you can go on the town square and plug shit in and play at any time, cops won't fuck with you.
people here are all really cool and the parties are always friendly and fun.

hey everybody, thanks for the suggestions. but horrible, horrible news.

I took my RV out for a week cruising the east coast of florida on A1A and my transmission completely fucked me. I got stuck for 8 hours(8 hr jam time lol) on the side of the road before a tow truck came and got me and towed us back to tampa. over 100 miles. i wont say how much that cost but it was outrageous. and if we get the transmission fixed, itll eat up all our funds for the trip. EPIC FAIL.

i still plan so travel in the near future. its just going to be awhile. but keep suggestions coming. the names of these cities float around in my head with my daydreams.

Aw, that sucks, man. The road will always be there for you to travel on.

Also, this thread makes me realize that there's a bit of a Denton coalition on ILF.

Wow,I just caught this thread. Sucks about the shit luck, though :( but I was planning on doing the same thing soon(busking). But I'm a little unsure as to the legalities involved around my area(Georgia/Alabama). I think Atlanta might be tolerant.
