I'm still working out the numbers to see if college is better than a trade school. After taxes, everyone who makes between $50,000 and $100,000 doesn't really have a significant difference in lifestyle. The problem with so many college graads is that they have no practical abilities. When I graduated (MS in Writing) I could apply my trade in editing. Most BS and BA degrees have no practical applications. Sciences require at least and MS if not a PhD. Humanities are useless unless you're going for pre-law or teaching.

Why waste the money? Plumbers make a shitload of money. General contractors, bartenders, HVAC repair. These are things people need.

Yeah. It's about time I do something with my life. I really need to go to school...get something going. I need some momentum, some drive, a goal to work towards. I've been doing nothing for a few years now and it really sucks, I feel like I'm behind where I should be at this point...well, not "should", but "could". I'm 22 but feel like I've done nothing and there are so many things I would very much like to do.

My friend really wants to move out and get an apartment within the next 6 or so months. He's asked me if I wanna move in with him, which admittedly WOULD be cool and a step in a positive direction. However...I feel like I need to help out my mom a little more...I really would love to get the house worked on some, fix things that should be necessities. I don't know how to do much myself but I could at least pay to get some work done, maybe re-shingle the roof and that kind of stuff. I can't leave her to watch my (this looks bad) extremely demanding aunt alone...it's very taxing. I don't wanna leave and let her be alone and drained...and there's still things I should help out on, personal property tax and stuff...

I'd like to move out but I feel like I haven't "repaid" her in any way for all that she's done for me. I feel like I should work on that first. Of course I don't want to stay here forever; I need to move out pretty soon. It's gonna be a little rough, but it has to happen.

Moved out when 19 and was coscripted. Had my first own apartment in 21. And felt like had been stalling it.

Yuuuuup. I spent three years away at college, one in a dorm, and two in a house with friends. I've been back at home since September on a leave of absence from school. I needed to come home and get my fucked up head together (bipolar disorder is a bitch) in a place where I didn't have to completely take care of myself and be miserable doing it. Now, I'm doing a lot better than I was, just started working full time at a gas station, am starting a band and have plans to transfer to UWM soon. Hopefully I'll have enough money to get my own apartment; my parents have been really helpful and supportive, but a lot of the time, I can't stand even being around them.

I've tasted freedom and going back has sucked even though it was better than the tailspin I had been riding before. However, it's also been a chance to restart just about everything and cut off a lot of my old ties that I had either messed up or just let go stale.

I had roommates for my first few years of college, and hated nearly every second of it. Then I had my own apartment for the last year and a half and loved nearly every second of it. Then I grajimated from college and moved back in with my parents and was indifferent to it. I had a full-time job, but was planning a move to where I am currently (since 2004), so I just hung out and read a thousand books until it was time to go. Lived with my bandmates for 2 years and hated half of it and loved the other half.

Now I live alone (with my cat) above a doctor's garage and never want to live with anyone else ever again. Full-time, steady, lucrative job, reasonable rent, and pure solitude. Not sure what I'll do if I ever get married... neighbors?

i'm living with my parents, because i¨m 19 and i'm not at university yet... this fall, everything will probably change... and hopefully it'll change as i want it to...

about the payments - by the fall i should ad a pile of money to their pile of money to finance my university life... we're splitting one third to two thirds

i got a job in machining/tool and die a year after high school. i was living with my parents saving to buy my own house but got sorta tired of living with them when i was 21 so i moved out. that was back in 98. i tried to move back in two years later for one year just so i could save a nice down payment on a house, hey my parents moved us into my mom's parents house when i was in 3rd grade so they could buy a house and get outta the appartments, but they said no.

in 2006 my parents sold their house in palatine and bought a motel in canada on the north shore of lake superior on 7 acres of land. http://www.coachhousemotel.net

it sorta sucks only seeing the p's for maybe one week a year but hey, they are the ones that fled the country so i get to give them shit about abandoning me!

now i am learning how to set up and program these 6-axis grinders at work! BONE REAMERS!!! once i get good at these i will never ever have to worry about finding work! :yay: well, i have never had to worry about that much as i have been unemployed for all of two weeks since i graduated high school and that was a few months after i graduated.

I lived of and on with my parents for several years after graduating high school in 2001. It was some good and bad years with my folks, god knows I love them so much and I am lucky to have. However my parents go into my personal life and it made things really hard, epically seeing as my I worked with my Dad too, so some times I never really got off the job. (Still fucking working at that place too)

In 2007 after I graduated college, I was pressured to buy a house that I then qualified on my own before the huge market crash in 08. That was the last year I spent with Mom and Dad and I am glad I am out of the house. My parents have given me everything and love the ground I walk on, my relationship has gotten much better and closer epically with my farther after I moved out. And when my life started had turned to utter shit they were there to help me out, God know I am the luckiest SOB on the planet to have parents like these :)*

Moral of the story, never moving back in.....ever.
