I'm Lots of real nice pics there, and since my point of view is not from American Uni, take my word for what it's worth: :idk:

Try to catch a hint of the bent side of the everyday shapes of objects. Try tracing the shapes, the presence and sense of movement. The nature of any object can be presented from the perspective of sudden, surprising, interesting and/or alienating feel to. If You go for the sense of uncanny and magical realism, remember: if it can be done through naturalistic still life feel to it, the more nonchalant the better. You know.

You probably won't need to excel in ALL area of photography but one can not be overlooked: Your own eye. It may sound a yesterdays sermon but, believe me, a portfolio photo better be simple as the triangle the next crossroads, rather than philosophically overwhelming Sistine chapel work of photography editing. Commercial use ready quality pieces have been sacked in favor of promising amateurs with potential.
