And I certainly don't mean to lump all parents into stereotypes. I realize that there are people out there that are doing it right and being actual parents to their children, but what happens when those children interact with kids that have no discipline in their home.
I think it there is a converse to your pet/children simile. I see a lot of young people having kids thinking it's going to be just like having a pet. Reality check time,...having kids (especially as a teenager) will dramatically change your life. I don't mind change,...but I fear the change that having kids would cause.

Children are just parasites. [quote]
Not you though. Born 18, your poor mother, THAT must've been hell.
In all seriousness, do it. You're 31 and it sounds like you've got your reasons. If you were a bit younger my advice would be to wait, because unless we're total fuckknuckles, our outlooks change from our early twenties. I like being a parent, but it's not easy and if you aren't into it'll just make for more fucked up people. SNIP that shit! And hope the doc doesn't drop a tube, because fishing it out is like having a dwarf kicking you in the nuts...FROM THE INSIDE!

Oh there is no denying I was a parasite. I might have been a good kid but I'm sure my parents got sick of ,..."I want a piano (and the accompanying lesson age 5-14),...I want a bass guitar (age 14),...I want a guitar (age 15), I need an amp." Eventually (age 17) I had to get a job and buy all that shit myself.

i find this and the reverse to generally be the rule. i have a few friends who had 'accidental' children (as horrible as that feels even to type) but they have made phenomenal parents to some awesome little kids.
i also know an 18 year old girl who tricked her boyfriend into knocking her up, and you can probably guess how that's going.
as for adoption, a man i deeply respect has adopted two children, and he told me it was the hardest thing he's ever done. he described it as having to tear his family apart and then put it back together around the child, but he also said it's been the most rewarding, amazing experience he's ever had after all the hardship. he did have two children of his own, so that had a lot to do with the difficulty.
as long as you know what you want i'm happy for you.

congrats!
some people just don't like kids, that's your prerogative. there's nothing wrong with it. if you don't like kids, it would be really stupid for anyone to expect you to want to raise kids, especially when you are given the choice.
i got really lucky, i think. my mom was told she was sterile from the time she was a teenager. so obviously, my brother and i were both accidental (we're less than a year apart in age

) but we ended up with the most awesome mom i could've possibly asked for. she did an awesome job raising us, even without our dad being involved.

people who don't want kids should def not have them.
i have been married for 17 years, neither of us desired kids. things changed, so we adopted 2 children. 1 from china and 1 from ethiopia.
it's the best thing i ever did. my lifestyle hasn't changed at all. i still drive a toyota.
shitty parents are everywhere, that's why kool people need to have kids...... so the world isn't overrun by the shitheads in the future.

Have you seen the latest procedures they've developed in Asia though?

Although I'm told this works too

Haha^^^ both you guys.
So the consultation went fine. From the Docs standpoint he just wanted to make sure I knew how permanent of a decision I'm making. I guess the misconception is that it easy to reverse when in actuality it's very expensive (our insurance covers the vasectomy but not any sort of reversal) and doesn't carry a high rate of success.

I have two of the awesomest kids ever in history. I like the four man team: Me, the fearless leader; my wife, the face; my 6 year old son, the technician; and my 4 year old daughter, the wildcard (bitches!). My life has changed only for the better. In fact, my 2 are so good, I got a vasectomy this year so that number three doesn't surprise us and fuck up the dynamic. I was worried like every guy is, but the shit was so simple I could've done it myself (DISCLAIMER: Don't do it yourself). My wife tried Mirena as birth control and I really hated it because I could feel it in there, plus those hormones make changes to the woman that you don't quite realize.
So you clearly don't want kids, get that shit snipped. And on behalf of your unwanted child, thanks for not making me, dick

.

Not wanting to put my junk in a vagina makes me appreciate also not having dilemmas like this.

I thought about that route as well,...but I don't know,...I'm like addicted to vagina or something. It's not that I want to breed,...it just feels so good.

By the title, I thought you were getting circumcised.
I'm glad to see that's not the case.
