Well, the delay time knob is easily adjustable by foot, though that may not be precise enough for your tap tempo needs.

I think the repeats have a sound of their own, crisper than the DM's I've tried, and a bit "noisier" (in the good way). Mine is being upgraded with the extra-delay-time-chip-thingy now, which apparently will make the repeats darker because of additional filtering, so I'll let you know after I get it back. Hoping it will end up sounding even closer to my AD9, which has the best delay sound I've ever heard.

I found the sound of the AD4096 fantastic! In fact, I'd call it the best analog delay I've ever used. However, despite what EAR advertises, the finish and faceplate are extremely fragile. That wasn't acceptable to me in such an expensive pedal. So, I traded mine away to a good home. Miss it much, though.

Hm, never noticed that about the faceplate and finish. Well, I like my pedals to have battle scars anyway. :success:

But hey, frig-midg, definitely look into Maxon as well, since I have this suspicion that you may happen to like less boutiquey brands. :poke:  The Maxons are fantastic, my old AD9 is never leaving my side (/floor).

My problem with boutque pedals has more to do with my financial situation rather than anything else, but I do feel strongly about the 'less is more' and 'don't change a winning team' philosophies :)

Anyway, the Maxon AD-999 Pro has been on my GAS wish list for ages, though it'll also have to wait untill I win the lottery or whatever.

The Moog MF delay however...Seems to meet my needs except for tt, and costs considerably less. The demos sound ligit, nothing but raving reviews...What's not to like? :idk:

likewise now that i have a maxon ad999, my GAS for the ad4096 has decreased a bit, but i still LOVE the look of these.

AD-999 is fucking awesome. I believe Eiwind had one and flipped it? Someone did, I remember PMing about it.

my second favorite delay is the Ibanez DE7- it is almost as good as the AD4096 at the oscillation sitting under the dry signal thing.

Ya, I PMed you I think. Kinda regret selling it, but trying to limit myself to stuff that gets used regularly, and it did not replace the magic of the AD9. Still a fantastic delay, though. Such beautiful repeats.

I had a friend in Texas that had one and seemed to really love it.
I definitely considered flipping my Echo Dream 2 back when they first came out to get one, but EAR is almost always "Out of stock."
It's too bad that EAR consistently seems to have no fucking clue how to run a business, though, because their gear looks top notch.

If you're into digital, the Catalinbread Montavillian is one of the best I've heard and there's one for sale in the b/s/t.

Found an old pic of a pre-ILF setup. Only the HP-1 remains :hobbes:
I found the Echo knob to have too much attack in the repeats. It got clicky quickly, especially when oscillating, ESPECIALLY when using the footswitch, which you have to click it at the end of its travel. It appears to be a momentary, soft-switch but that extra little click messed with my timing. Also it only ramps at a fixed rate based on where your Time knob is set. So short times seem to exponentially jump you into oscillation while long times seem to take forever to get there. I found the best settings to come from the Delay knob settings in "oo" infinity mode, with <11o'clock Echo knob.

I love that board! Glad you're still keeping the percolator around

Yeah that board was mighty fun, assembled right around the time I shifted from 100w American to 50w British amp platform, and the only dirt to survive said transition is the HP-1; my #1. I've had some pretty rare, great pedals pass through my rigs... but just seem to be at my riff writing best with the perc. I've taken it out of my setup but it's always temporary & keep going back to it

 Never seen a rusty-board I didn't like (despite the lack of oscillating fuzz).
