been trying a few different beers lately. the advantages of working in a grocery store where everything is 20% off. anyways, i'm not too picky, but i like to stay away from macrobrews if i can...

Sam Adams Noble Pils

I was looking for a springtime beer, and it's sam's new spring seasonal so i picked up a 6 pack. priced reasonably. Pours a goldish color, with a really cool hint of green to it. Tastes very citrusy with a good amount of hops to it, but it finishes really crisp. pretty smooth beer over all. not sure if i like it as much as Sam Adams Oktoberfest, but it was enjoyable.


Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

this one shocked me. I'm really not a pale ale fan because of the bitterness, but my god this beer is incredible. really crisp taste with some bitterness that doesn't overpower. citrus taste, and it finishes pretty smooth thanks to the cascading hops they use. really good beer, but it's not something i could drink all the time


Newcastle brown ale

yeah it's not an incredible beer, but it's my go to beer. cheap, and it tastes good. Pretty malty, with a dry finish. not the best looking beer, but it gets the job done and it's pretty enjoyable every time i have it.


Bodington's pub ale

I love this beer. comes in a bright yellow can, has a widget in it that carbonates the beer when you open it. reallllly foamy. kinda a guinness like effect when you pour it. HUGE head. pretty much the whole glass is foam, but it clears up and it basically clears up from the bottom to the top. very cool. as for taste. it's as good as your gonna get when it comes to a typical pub ale. smooth, nice mouth feel and a maltier dry finish. pretty cheap and i really enjoyed this one. it's pretty delicious



and as for wine, anyone got any suggestions? i've always wanted to like wine, but i've never really had a good place to start

Durbanville Hills Shiraz (South African - 2003)
- A woody almost smoky Shiraz, dry without drying, spiced, and with light notes of plum. Strong but not overpowering.
Thoughts: Best Shiraz I have had that didn't also break the bank. A wine for strong red wine lovers. Not for most newcomers to wine. Great with meat.
Note: The 2003 is far superior to the 2005 and 2007 batches.

- A relatively soft Sirah. Tastes strongly of berry fruits. Rich aroma.
Thoughts: A bit light and wet for me, but still enjoyable. A good wine for when you have company.
