The Gagne trade was to free up salary space for younger,...less concussion prone players.

That said,...Gagne has always been a favorite player of mine,...and if Tampa Bay wins the Stanley Cup,....I'll be stoked for Gagne.

This year we kinda looked like shit. I can't believe we even made the playoffs, but I would have to think we'll get blown outta the 1st round.

dont worry tigerbass, i know big buff isnt here any more but we have a habit of making luongo cry every year...

as soon as that parade was over last year we shoulda shipped "kaner" off to buffalo so we could have held on to buff, ladd and eager. :grumpy:

all said and done i do not think the mighty blackhawks are tough enough this year. i am just happy to get into the playoffs and if we can make luongo cry again i will be very very happy! btw, i did not expect that sort of fight out of the flyers last year and i would not mind one bit if they sipped from lord stanley's cup this year. as long as they dont beat the hawks that is! :joy:

Him and/or Campbell would've worked for that. Would be hilarious if the Canucks get knocked out by the Hawks again.

Not happy with ESPN America's broadcast schedule. It's all Hawks/Canucks and no Ducks unless the Hawks sweep the series and the Ducks don't. At least there's the Habs/Bruins matchup.

playoffs!!!!!!!!! :joy: :omg: :!!!:

huge canucks fan here, can't wait for wednesday! was hoping they wouldn't draw chicago in the first round but it'll definitely be an entertaining series. gearing up for a run with a much improved defense in hamhuis and ballard (and everyone else healthy for once), back to back art ross winners in the twins, selke frontrunner kesler, vezina candidate luongo, dreamboat edler . although the forward depth takes a bit of a hit without manny (miss u bro  )

glad we won't have to see big buff's mug this year, but i'm not sure if it would matter too much as luongo has been excellent all year and hasn't been rattled at all. then there's always schneider...

anyway, the boston/montreal series will be another one to watch. i would cheer for boston but i wouldn't want to face them in the finals. chara is just a freak of nature and i'm glad he's in the east.

anyways, happy playoffs everyone :snax:

What he said. It's kind of like he read my mind, but then wrote it much more eloquently than I ever could.

Why not? You can go to their games and become most familiar with them. Growing up just outside of Philly, why would you chose any other team...unless your parents were huge fans of another team where they grew up, which isnt the case for me...

Anywho...

Giving Bob the start is an awful idea, he showed how he preforms under pressure...like a sieve

That being said, I think they get past Buffalo and will lose if/when they have to play Tampa. I like their chances against everyone else. I'm being very optimistic though. I cannot believe that 6/8 ESPN analysts picked Buffalo. I give up on ESPN's NHL coverage.

Best coach in the league + deepest offense should take them far, as long a - in goal tending doesn't destroy them.

Bring back Hextall, enough said.

I'm hoping that Bob steps up his game. Look at Niemi last year,....rookie goalie,....wins friggin Stanley Cup.

I'd like to believe that the Flyers disappointing 2nd half was just the team being comfortable with their position; not really having much to play for and taking it easy. This time last year they were squeaking into to the playoffs,...this year they coasted. The playoffs are the real season and Bobrovsky has the potential to be an elite goaltender,...but he had no time to adjust in lower echelon leagues. Hopefully he can clamp down and have some stellar games,....but we will have to be patient and see.

I'd like to think that Lavy is a genius but he seemed to loose his team after the All Star break. Again,...perhaps they were trying to enter the playoffs injury free and thus weren't working as hard. Hopefully now that the Flyers have something to play for,...their work ethic and sense of urgency will return.

I don't think the Flyers netted a single shutout this season. :erm:

FWIW I consider the Pres Trophy to be a curse, but the Canucks might be able to break it. Since I'm geographically closest to the Canucks and there are some similarities with the Flyers in their game; Vancouver is my favorite team in the West. They are an incredibly quick team,...but still gritty.

So if you look at history,...there was a Detroit/Pittsburgh SCFs two years in a row,...in which DET won the first one and PIT won the second one. What are the odds that we see another PHI/CHI SCF this year,...and Philly takes it.

:!!!:

The Predators

They are no slouches.

PS. I prefer pie. (glad to see some Flyers love,....they are consistently one of the most hated on teams in the league.)

the pres trophy is a curse. it seems the best record rarely wins or even makes it to the cup these days. i remember 90-91 all to well... fucking north stars...

as for the det/pitt two years in a row that was all about some strange hossa karma and the spell is broken so if there is a second straight chi/phi hossa clearly needs to win another one... :duck:
