Fuck you. That's not even fair, man. We're all over here with our tiny analog delays, and you whip out that thing? C'mon. That's like apples to giant, solid-gold apples.

I really don't like reverb (plz don't crucify me plz)

But I love delay when it's used tastefully. It kinda kills the point if it's on during every part of every song ya know?

I might have a source (found after I passed on a Univox for $80  ), hang on and I'll see if I can dig out the link...

EDIT: http://www.mytapeecho.com/page/998840

analogman used to sell those cartridges.
Last I looked was a year or so ago though.
http://www.analogman.com/parts.htm

"Univox tape echo tapes, for EC-80 EC-100 etc, new, $40/2 minutes $35/1.5 minutes
These are no longer available, but I have a few left.
These are the same cartridges but have a little less tape in them
so they may not last quite as long as the original ones.
The originals had a 2.5 minute long tape loop. I have some
with a 2 minute loop and some with a 1.5 minute loop.

** Note: no returns on tapes and they are sold AS-IS because many
tape units still wont work even with a new tape, or can eat a new
tape."

Try here too: http://www.candisc.com/ranger/surplus.htm
Don't know when the last time that site was updated though...

I hear you can use the dictaphone tapes with a bit of modding.

Thanks for posting that, it is good info. I've come across most of it before. But when I said the cartridge died, I mean it, it isn't fixable... I've seen a few univox cartridges go for over $70+ on e-bay. mytapeecho.com use to sell the cartridges too for around $60 but I just never got around to getting one, know it looks like they arn't selling them any more. Actually I would sell the thing, but with out a cartridge [it is no more I tell you] you can't tell if it really works anymore so all it is worth for ATM is parts.

Mud, I have 3 of the original univox tapes, I could prob send you one to test out your unit. Mine stopped working, at least stopped delaying (that's why it was pulled from sale), but everything else still works fine. I played it like three days before I was going to ship it off, then tested it before packing and...no delay :idk: . Damn good thing I tested it again.
