Fuhhhhh I am so jealous. I'll be in Denver for a conference in March, why couldn't Sleep be playing then?!

When I was younger the first amp I had was a Peavey Express 112 and I could always pick up the big truckers CB traffic when they would pass by the house. I don't know what satellite frequencies are, but I'm wondering if the talking at the beginning of the track I recorded wasn't a movie or something. I know a few people in the area of our space have ham radios and stuff but I'm not sure what the source the talking was on that I picked up somehow. It was definitely creepy as fuck though now when I listen back to it. " God help us all... In the name of the Father... Are we a threat to you?" I wonder what they were talking about.
It sounds like scripted dialogue, sort of...is real life speech that dramatic? Maybe they still knock out radio plays on the old HAMS? Like, D&D over the airwaves. People used to play chess like that...

Wait up...they've reissued Vol.2 on vinyl?
At least that's a shirt of some description.
I'd have bought a pillowcase....

Popped my Earthless cherry and destroyed my mind and my hearing the other night...so amazing, so loud. Etyernal Elysium were pretty cool too.
Went to Byron yesterday, feral hippie douchers everywhere...beat the 40C heat in Brisbane though and now I have to work a 10 hour day.

First, FUCKING SLEEP LAST NIGHT YEEEAAAHHHHH. Holy shit they were awesome. Pike being sober(ish?) means he was playing better than I've seen him in a long time. Al had a crazy mystic wizard vibe with his big beard. THEY SOUNDED SO GOOD. SO. SO. GOOD.
Second: Guys, suddenly I am overwhelmed with amp GAS. I'm kicking around the idea of selling my v4 AND my Beta to buy an Orange of some sort. OR80/120? AD140? Orange head on two orange 412s = YES. But I dunno. Talk me into/out of it?
If not, I either want to finally snag a Bassman 135 or Redbear MK(E)120. Got a lead on them? Or TALK ME OUT OF SPENDING MONEY FFFFUUUUU

OR120 is the best amp ever. I'm possibly moving across the country soonish, and I'm keeping it tied to my chest the whole way.
Glad Al's got the beard back. He seems to do that once every 10 years.

Pretty much my impression of sleep when I saw em in October. The beard made Al's bass-sex faces look all the more creepy, but so awesome. Pike was on it. So good.
I can't help you on the amp front, save that I really love a clean bassman sound. I'm actually having second thoughts about whether or not I want nick to build me an OR based DA50 or something that runs closer to the hiwatt dr503/clean for days thing.
In the future I'd like to move to a stereo rig with one of each....but I'm not sure what I wanna gun for first. I was about to pose that question here, but you just beat me to it.

I seem to be one of the only ones that doesn't care too much for V4's. At least not as much as everyone else does. I had two of them. One always gave me issues, the other was always good to me. The good one was an early one that sounded best when I got real picky about the power and preamp tubes, and speakers. But it was still just okay, I guess. The Beta is cool. I play Corey's Beta Bass from time to time and I like it. It's nothing crazy good to write home about but it does the trick well. Bass and guitar. I've never played an original OR120 but every time I hear one I fall in love with it. Specially an early one or a Matamp 120. I remember we played with my friends band from Tacoma mid last year and he has an original Matamp 120 that sounded too good to describe. Plus he paired it with an old plexi also. His rig sounded incredible. Since then I've been dying for one (Matamp/OrMat/Pics only). I would certainly sell my Sunn Sorado and YBA-3 for one. But I'm lame. Idk. It would pair up so fucking awesome with my Custom 100. They don't pop up often, though. And when they do they're way expensive. I don't think selling your V4 and Beta will cover the cost of one considering how much they're going for. But you can definitely get a 90's reissue or even a late 70's 120, easy.

It's like everything else--you can get a great deal on it if you're patient, and look around. I got super lucky with mine -- showed up in my local store and the price just kept dropping as it gathered dust-- but that's hardly unheard of, just less common.
You should absolutely 100,000% be able to afford one selling your V4 and your Beta, assuming you're ok settling for one that isn't aesthetically perfect.

It's been a few years since going to a show by myself, but I usually run into a friend or two. Doing it 3,000 miles away from home, though, is pretty awkward. Some random lady just offered me a drink as I was typing this, but since I don't drink she just walked away. Anyway, I'm just killing time. Small rant.

Drink some soda water....
Just joking. I'm getting a little tired of talking non-metal people into coming with me to see shows so I'll probably be in the same solo-show-goer boat as you are tonight in the near future. Next time a decent band crossest the border anyway.
At least with smart phones there's something to do while waiting around but still.

MAn, GO! GO TO THE SHOW! I got tired of my friends being lame and resolved to go to more shows regardless of company. SO GLAD I DID! Hell I would never have met Darren or Parker in person and they are both rad dudes. Last night I rolled up to Seattle solo For Greenriver Thrillers, C.F.A. and Stereo Creeps. Had a fucking blast! Hung out with the dudes in the bands I know, kinda got treated like rock royalty haha. We just played a show with Stereo Creeps a couple weeks ago so to their people I was "that guy from Infinite Flux" Nice to know we left a good impression.
Amps and cabs sounding good Skip!
Speaking of cabs, just got back from Jeff Murrows place and got to finally see the panels for my crazy Egyptian themed fridge weirdo monstrosity he is building for me. I got the idea that using the Cerwin Vega 189E in there might be cooler than using the 2x15 along with the 4 12's. He was skeptical but I had drawn up some plans for having it all fit and making the back of the cab into a big folded horn. This thing is going to be fucking wild. and probably crazy heavy haha. This thing is finally getting to the point where there is wood ready to put together. Cracked me up, he made some mini versions of it complete with carvings and has them as house speakers in his shop. Dudes getting way into it. He's got the hieroglyphics all facing the correct way and is using a bunch I dont know and it does translate to English. Not just random cool looking shit. He gave me a bunch of test pieces to try out finish options on. So thats going to be fun
Show tomorrow.

Got back last night after 3 days of visiting Portland's breweries, bottle shops, and pubs. Ouch.
Ax- sounds like that cabinet will be suitably over-the-top to be part of your rig. Cheers, you crazy mahfacker!

This is on sleep's fb today. Al played this the entire set on Friday. Crazy thing is, I didn't see him touch the guitar once. Only the bass. I can't imagine how expensive this thing would be. $8000, $10000? And it has to weigh a ton. Heavy.
