Hell yeah John! Have fun with it. going to dual project it I hope?
Yeah, I'm not completely happy unless I am in at least 3 different bands, preferably on different instruments. DangrxField satisfies my drum needs but I haven't been getting the bassercise I used to get on the regular, since Elephant Graveyard got buried. Time to change that.AxAxSxS wrote:Hell yeah John! I don't know what's best these days but back in the day we had the best luck by muffling whatever recording device by throwing a hoodie or something on top of it.Timm Grimm wrote:What's the best way to record a very loud practice? Our practice space is pretty small, probably 12x10 (wild guess there). I've tried using my galaxy s3 but it just doesn't cut it. Honestly it sounds like total shit. My drummer has a zoom h2n but while it sounds a little better still not that great and doesn't pick up his kick drum. I don't know how much he's messed with the gain on the Mic though, and I haven't fuct with it yet. There's not much room for a "optimal" placement.
I need something to listen to between practice days.

this is pretty much what we always did. Or some old blanket or some shit. Set it a decent distance away. Usually worked out just fine.humancertainty wrote:I don't know what's best these days but back in the day we had the best luck by muffling whatever recording device by throwing a hoodie or something on top of it.Timm Grimm wrote:What's the best way to record a very loud practice? Man, that's badass. 17 minutes of listening to this and I lost all track of time. Good shit for sure. I recorded mine too, I just have to upload it.AxAxSxS wrote:Here's our contribution to the new year thing,
Thats what I do for a pop filter when recording vocals, I put a t shirt over the vocal mic. I don't know about the Zoom unit you are using but I got a Zoom Q2Hd the other day and used it in our practice space (10x20 climate controlled storage unit) and with it about 4 feet from the drumkit it picked up everything. I posted a link to one of the songs we recorded about 10 or so pages back.humancertainty wrote:I don't know what's best these days but back in the day we had the best luck by muffling whatever recording device by throwing a hoodie or something on top of it.Timm Grimm wrote:What's the best way to record a very loud practice? Dig the video. What program are you using? I'd like to do that with some of our stuff but I only have Windows Movie Maker and I don't think it has that effect in it.AxAxSxS wrote:We did this today at deafening volume and I used the usual cheap condenser mics and a scarlet 2i2. They were getting a bit blown out but I'm happy with how it came out. recorded improv jam for the Drone in the new year...

I believe thats the band that toured recently and my friend filled in on bass for them, if so they're pretty badass!!!!John wrote:Trying out for an established band (on bass) for the first time in a while. It's a little intimidating but as long as I keep listening to their music until it all sinks in, I should have no problem, as long as they're cool people and aren't just looking for a guy with a "look." I haven't met them yet but their music is really good and it's well within my abilities.
