Not exactly sure on the price but I should probably start selling things

There's a used one for sale on TGP for $350, FYI.

I'll probably get a few more mics and a better mic preamp in the coming months. I'll look into these, thanks!

While we're on the subject, what's the deal with people using kick drum mics to mic a guitar cab?

Not sure where the practice began, but they can handle high SPL so close-micing a ridiculously overpowered cab is nbd.
Never done it myself, but I've studied a bit and read dozens of reviews suggesting the Shure beta 52 excels at this; and any sample recordings I've heard provide a bigger sound than what is typical of sm57s, as well. More low end... they seem to be ideal for closed back cabs.

Yeah, I've used the Beta 52 quite often for micing bass cabs. But the AKG 112 is even better. Can't really explain the difference right off hand because I'm still half asleep and my brain can't find that file yet... but yeah. I need to go find some coffee.

I am dumb. I thought I ordered a SM58 on Amazon, after finding it on my phone and clicking buy. But I guess I clicked on the PG58, which, while cheaper, is like the cheap karaoke mic version of te SM58. So I'll give it a try fr vocals and start budgeting for an instrument mic now. (I suppose I can return the mic right away to Amazon. It should be here tomorrow.)

Gonna look into the vintage Shure 545's that univalve recommended.

I may have a 545 for you. I was given one a couple weeks back by someone who said he couldn't get it to work. This guy is an electronic musician (aka his laptop does the work for him) so he isn't really knowledgeable about mics. Anyways, I opened it up and one of the wires had broken its solder joint. Let me fix it up and test it and I'll PM you if you're interested.

I'm coming down with overdrive gas. I want the new small Barber Gain Changer and Direct Drive, the new Cbread DLS MK 87560w31s or whatever they're calling it and a fuck or a mini.

That's a lot of OD GAS you're suffering from all at once!

I'd start with the Mini, good shit!

Also got a MIDI Controller incoming for... well.. Midi controlling the whammy. I'm also planning on getting a Molten Midi 2.
Now I have to build a bigger board. :D

Yeah, I really want to try one. But as we'll see after the BILF stuff get's posted, I have an embarrassing amount of dirt already (at least relative to the size of my board), so it would probably mean letting go of something I have already...
