I'd probably drop either Rings -or- Elements since they cover some of the same ground, use the space to fit both Rene and Veils. For drone I'd maybe look at the Malekko Voltage Block in place of Rene, lots more outputs in a smaller size and you only have Maths/Rene but a ton of possible modulation destinations.
Also getting one Disting might be a good choice since it can cover so many functions. It is a good module to have to learn where your weaknesses are. Like if you get stuck always using Disting for an LFO then maybe you should get a dedicated LFO.

shawn / AH suggested the toppobrillo stereomix for what i've been talking about wanting but it's $550. screw that.
he agreed it's surprising something isn't out like this, but also agreed it'd take a lot of VCAs. that's what i've been doing for now, one for the envelope, through another for level.
*sigh*
thank you intellijel for the HEXVCA. a shame it's discontinued.

The Hexvca is now called the Linix.

i know, but it's twice as wide and has more that i don't need.

Thanks, Dark Barn!
I'll look into those modules!

I agree on the elements/rings thing.
Only thing I have to add is to probably avoid the m168 case. I wasn't that impressed really (beyond my noise issues).
I think two 104hp synthrotek skiffs would be better but a bit more expensive.
That new tip top one looks nice too.
For a lot more money, that intellijel 2x84 case with the extra 1u row would be good because you can move some utility stuff to the 1u.
The other option would be to just get a pelican like case off eBay and pick a solid power supply a make it yourself. That is basically what the m168 is.

I used to think guitars and pedals was an expensive hobby. Modular research has recontextualised that somewhat...

It's super easy to put together a really expensive setup on paper. Whether or not it actually becomes expensive is up to you.

Yeah comparing the cost of a whole nice setup using not too many modules that aren't super expensive to a guitar or amp it's actually really not necessarily that bad. I guess the issue as a beginner is having to sink a fairly decent amount of money into stuff before you can find out whether you like it vs buying a £50 guitar that will play alright enough to learn.

Totally different things though.

There's also the fact that what you think you need are probably entirely incorrect for what you actually want to do, which is not the same as a guitar in the slightest.

How very true. Everything is a bit more obvious at face value with guitar.

So very true. Even the things that seem very straight-forward and simple tend to not always be that straight-forward or simple.
Also, this seems really cool and it's another Soundhack collab, which is always good. Not sure if it's replacing the Phonogene or not, but this seems a lot more interesting than the Phonogene.

Also, tempted by the Stereo Looping Delay though:

Both seem to be pretty different beasts.
And Intellijel seem to be knocking it out of the park too. Definitely considering the 7U, 104hp case
Man, fuck NAMM, I had a lot less gas 20 minutes ago

Join the club dude, all the new WMD modules have me fucking hard as a rock. That Overseer filter is ace, Advanced Trigger Sequencer is fabulous, and the compressor is so small but so worth it.

Also I have the Mix 01 but I won't be able to use it until this weekend.
Loving that you can send independently-levelled outputs of each input to the left and right channels, though.
