I have the avatars and sigs turned off. Don't know why, just turned 'em off one day.
Harder to keep track of y'all now. Have to actually read names. Should probably change that.

No way, minimalist for life! I turned them off so it's less weird if I browse at work. Did you know you can turn off smilies too?

I posted the other day that I picked up a Zoom Q2HD for recording practice. Tried it out last night. Pros: Sounds great. The audio isn't as compressed and shitty. Our practice space is so loud though that the signal clipped a little bit but it picked up everything clearly and the low end was nice and fat and the cymbals cut through but were not harsh. Cons: The video quality is supposed to be 1080i but its kinda shitty and the files are all Quicktime based and can't be used with windows movie maker. When recording video, you are only able to record 17 minutes before the included 2 gig card fills up. I put a 4gig card in it and got 35 minutes worth. When recording audio only you can get about 2 hours worth on it though. The biggest bitch on this thing though is the battery life. I recorded about 15 minutes worth of audio, listened back to it two or three times and then had it connected to my computer for about 15 minutes and the batteries died. Fucking sucks. I don't know if I'll end up keeping it or not but it did work pretty well for recording audio for practices. I might take it back and swap it for an audio only recorder or maybe one of those Tascam video recorders.

Just thought I'd post my findings in case any of you guys were thinking about picking one up.

Also, on the amp thing. A 5150 is totally doom worthy, although it isn't my ideal amp for that type thing. My guitarist uses one with a Revelation on the clean channel and it sounds super thick, fuzzy and massive. Sure, its got an extra channel that he isn't using, but the end result is what its all about. We're all chasing that tone in our heads and if it'll get you there no matter what gear it is, then its worthy IMHO.

Thou is great. I have a hard time listening to their albums, though, since I first caught them live and I don't really think their records measure up.

Zoom H2 is pretty baller if you're using it for a full-band reference type thing. Works awesome for (legally) recording things like phones on speaker, too. Only downside is that you'll inevitably end up listening to your own voice. Am I the only one who hates that shit?

I hate the sound of my voice. I don't think I sound like that when I talk and it makes me paranoid when I hear it being played back. I'm really nervous about going into the studio to record these new songs because I don't wanna do vocals on them.

I hate my voice 2 so I never speak in gear demos for that reason.

OTOH, it does always reinforce why no one ever takes me seriously when I talk.

Most people hate the sound of their voice. The inside of your head reverberates or something so you sound bassier. It's one of those weird things.

Even worse? Watch video of yourself. I was interviewed a while back, and I couldn't make it more than a minute into watching the interview.
