I did a lot of interludes/ambient tracks with a bowed guitar and the Industrial Electric RM-1N fuzzverb: nothing is more beautiful than this combination :snax:

Tell me more about this bowing thing. Do you need to have a seperate guitar for this? Doesn't the rosin make the strings really sticky? :idk:

Sounds great. :thumb:

I use some d'Addario cello rosin, can't remember the exact reference right now but could find it for you, which I chose after extensive research. it's perfect for guitar use, sticks to the bow, easy to clean up on the guitar and strings if you put too much, and doesn't dull the stings (well, if you don't play with the bow 100% of the time).

I was afraid to prepare a junk guitar especially for bowing but with the d'addario cello light rosin it seems to not make your strings sticky if you wipe the rosin powder after bowing.
The thing is super fun with heavy reverb. Bowed guitar+RM1N= instant GY!BE / Sigur Ros :!!!:

Bet I'd need a guitar with an arched body though, right? Would probably just bow the body of my tele if I tried only working one string.

Nah. My favorite guitars with the bow are the Les Paul and '72. Buckers work better IMO to get that fat compressed bow sound. But arched or flat, it's the same. You gotta grab it à la Jonsi and work your fretting hand position to mute the strings you don't want to ring out if you need a level of precisions that can be achieved by angling the bow.

What how do you recommend? They get spendy but I have know idea what makes a bow that is well suited for guitar

my stepdad has his "studio" jam area setup now - really Rockin' sounds.
