Re: = Introduce Yourself =
Hey all, my name is Eric. I live in southern Ontario.
I've been playing guitar and bass for 8 years. Been playing banjo for 3 or 4 years too and recently started learning slide guitar and piano. I've been in a few bands but most of my playing is at home just for fun.
I'm into alternative, blues, and indie (and yeah you can probably call me a "Hipster"). Some of my favourite bands are Hanni El Khatib, anything with Dan Auerbach or Jack White, the National, Tom Waits, Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band...
Both my bass and guitar rigs are constantly changing due to a slight kijiji addiction but currently I'm playing a Gretsch G5129 through a Fender Excelsior with a few pedals. My bass set up is kind of pathetic, just a Warwick Rockbass Corvette and a little practice amp, but I'll be working on fixing that eventually.

Re: = Introduce Yourself =
Hello everyone I don't know, you seem like a bunch of winners. I think I've introduced myself in this thread a time or two before, but it can't hurt to add updates since I've been away for so long.
Eric, I'm sorry but you can't be a hipster if you label yourself as one. Sorry, I didn't make up the rules. Nor do I regulate them, Hipster Jesus does.
I'm Basti and I'm a norwegian composer. My focus is on electroacoustic music, but I keep getting jobs in the commercial sector. So on paper I'm usually a sound artist/designer/director/producer/mixer/technician/consultant. Along with (too little) typical sound art works like compositions, interactive installations and performances, I've done work for films, choreography, events, normal stuff. I guess the most easily showable and explainable would be a job I did for disney as head of creative when they released the new tron movie, in Norway. I can show some examples of works some time when I've settled back in here a bit again, no one likes a showoff in an introduction thread. Not counting the awesome showoff pictures from Dulouz and Plaid Sabbath up there, that stuff belongs right here, and also in the show off threads.
Right now I'm planning out and programming sound and lights for a club, first and most interesting thing I could find since bailing out of uk. Also some preliminaries for a movie that looks so so excellent. Hopefully I can talk my way in there.
I also play bass. I used to play guitar all the time and incorporated it and pedal stuff in everything I did, but then suddenly my work was all studios and computers. Bass is great, it's more about listening to the overall sound and keeping it together, although I only play it for fun at the moment. Did some practicing with a death metal band for a while, but that was mostly about heavy drinking. I think they found out I wasn't actually a bassist eventually.
Anyway, I'm happy to have time to use on forum stuff, and I look forward to picking your delicious brains on how to improve my bass as it's new territory for me. I have a gretsch six string bass I made into a five string and it needs some serious improvement. On pretty much everything. I'll put questions in the relevant forum and hope for the best, I've never been let down here so far.

Hey what's up!
Coming from the Central Valley, CA. Just came back from Coachella and primed to start a band.
Listen to groups like Husker Du and J-rock like Eastern Youth or Ging Nang Boyz so I feel like I'm the right forum to find
ways to emulate these styles. Thanks!

Hi!
Tim from fuzzfaceless pedals (slowly becoming faceless fx)
Apparently I registered more than two years ago. Thought I'd join the fun. What should I know?

Hello there. This is quite a handsome forum website.
I'm Nick, of NOC3 Effects fame. I quit selling pedals for a while cause I needed a break from "the business side of things" but I'm trying to get back into it in a more relaxed and DIY friendly way. I much prefer dealing with DIYers and nerd people. It is pretty exhausting to dealing with the other end of the spectrum full of people who ask you how they should turn their own damn knobs for the best sound in their bedroom. I was kicked out of TGP. Then let back in and kicked out again. Now I'm here.
I am not a charming salesman but I am honest and have cool ideas worth sharing. I try to be kind to the thinking and feeling people but honestly, I'm partial to my fellow Cylons. I've got some PCBs and a big project in progress. If you love something, fuzz it up.

Re: = Introduce Yourself =
Hiya, Ken here. Old fart, family guy, and wage slave from the Louisiana bayou area. I'm into crusty, noisy dbeat punish type stuff the most, but overall I'm a fan of lots of Indie/DIY music, whether it be doom, punk, black metal, thrash, death rock, ambient, folk, stoner... eh, I guess the list could go on all night. Suffice it to say that I'm pretty open minded as long as it's sincere artistry. Been playing guitar for almost thirty years but don't let that equate to skill or talent because I'm still not very proficient at my instrument of choice. Been on a couple of records, so there's that. I have a current project where I'm the sole contributor, so i guess I'll post a link over at the music thread.
Coming from the old school 80's punk mentality of "as long as it's loud enough, it's fine," I guess I'm getting to a point where I'm actually becoming interested in decent tone... and that's ultimately why I'm here. I'm still not (and won't ever be) a brand snob (I kinda equate that to middle school bullying over whether or not your parents could afford Z. Cavaricci or Guess jeans). Yeah, it would be cool to buy everything American made and all that, but please reflect back on my earlier bits about being a family man and a wage-slave, haha. As a result, Epiphone Les Pauls and other cheaper alternative gear suit me just fine.
OK, I guess I'll shut up now... thanks for reading. I'll commence to snooping and learning about fuzzy stuff now

Been a member/lurker since '09. Just figured out my user name and recovered this account.
Pretty much a bass player I own too many. Dig four bangers, certain fivers, and my Ultra Bass VI.
I have four electric skinny sixers, all in different tunings, and a custom lap steel.
I'm also a total Peavey whore.
I honestly don't know how many pedals I own, but the majority are distortion or fuzz.
So yeah, I love fuzz, true story.
