Honey Boo Boo was just three miles down the road from my house filming their Christmas Special. It is seriously time to fucking move.

I've had good luck with last few purchases from ebay, but I usually expect some work on vintage stuff like these. If you can get it for $250 and spend $150 or less to put it back in spec, I still think that's usually a deal.

Hovercraft stencils on the box.

All packed, ordered a couple of Solid Cables speaker cables with it.

Came with a Funn O))) sticker and a Mercury power cord.

Some documentation in silver sharpie on the back. Those EL84s look TINY in there.

The controls are Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble, Volume, HF Drive.

FIrst impressions are that the tone of this amp is right up my alley. No mid or low mid scoop, just a nice flat response that you can add to. Good warm, slightly dirty sound with the gain low, great high gain tone. Perfect mid frequency, sounds good maxed. Too much bass, kept it on noon or below but nice to know that there is a lot more on tap. HF Drive can get harsh but works really well to add in some sparkle when the volume is lower. 20 watts isn't much but for recording and playing in the house it's good. Mid gain pushed with an Elements sounded really good. Lowish gain with a Pharaoh it got really sludgy in a good way. Fun amp. Looks great too... I'm a sucker for that Matamp style plexi front panel and the handles.
how rugged are these guys? built tough or flimsy?

It's built out of the recycled chassis of a Jet City so it's mostly made out of Chinese components. Seems to be built well, I've had no problems with mine but I'm not gigging it or anything.

If it helps the Hovercraft is the amp I play through most other than the THR10 on my coffee table and I have a JCM800 sitting in storage.

It's to the point that if I started gigging again I might consider putting a direct out on the Hovercraft to slave to an EL34 power amp rather than digging out the Marshall.

i thought it was bad enough when i read that they were buying a house in a subdivision on a golf course right up the road from our practice space but this is worse. That dumpy fat tub of fuck was literally in my back yard.

And that Gibson is pretty damn nice. I haven't really gassed for anything at all in about a month or so until now. I don't like the baked maple board on it though. They aren't in trouble anymore so why can't they use rosewood on them again?

They are using Rosewood(laminated pieces of rosewood to make a fret board I should say)along with using the baked maple still as well. Not a fan of the way the maple looks but whatever. If I had the funds and played a guitar with one of the maple boards and liked it I would over look the apperance.
