Update: Finished Clannad: After Story. Cried like a baby from episode 16 to around 20. This show took me by surprise. Totally didn't expect what started off as such a silly show to take such a turn and make that big of an impact on me. Good stuff!

Just finished Alien 9. Shit was good, too bad that apparently nothing more will be made of this.

Rewatched the entirety of Psycho-Pass just to see the Movie. I only realized that I have the movie in shrinkwrap for like 2 months

I really, really do love the show, which is remarkable considering the dozens of ridiculously stupid and nonsensical things about it.

Up to ep4 of Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku,and I'm not really sure what to think. A part of me likes it, but another part of me thinks it might be trying a bit too hard. Anyone else watching this?

The first season is so good but man that second season was TOTAL GARBAGE. Shit. I'll just stick with the first season if I ever want to rewatch it.

Nichijou is getting a US bluray release and that makes me very happy.

Haven't really watched a lot of anime. Only ones I've watched in the last few years were Death Note and Monster.

I really liked Death Note, mainly for the premise - but it kinda went off the rails a bit in the latter half and felt like they lost control of telling a really good story as it became more convoluted. Also, way way way WAY too much exposition on the smallest details of everybody's deductions. Was a bit annoying to have every 2nd line of dialogue be "FROM THIS I DEDUCE THAT blah blah blah blah blah". It was interesting to follow the characters internal thought process as they try to logically piece things together - but they went way too far with it.

Monster was cool, but kinda slow moving. Which I didn't mind. But I was kinda hoping there'd be a much bigger payoff at the end that would make my patience worth it. And maybe it was just me, but I didn't feel like there was (at least, not as much as I'd hoped). There was a lot of buildup, and the last few episodes were cool, but I kinda wished the story would wrap up much better than it did. Having said that, there's something to be said for how restrained it was. It was extremely well done, but not exactly what I was looking for.

Keen to watch something similarly dark again. Preferably a bit more serious than Death Note, and a bit less serious than Monster. Is Psycho Pass something I might enjoy? Any other suggestions?

i started watching GUTS.
it was awesome but i didn't finish it. (yet)
the content of GUTS seemed awesome though, swords and magic and shit are a bit more my pace. steampunk and sci-fi/fantasy are more my speed vs. full on sci-fi.

i also watched avatar and it was awesome but maybe that's not cool to say.

prefer suggestions be available on netflix/hulu/amazon prime video.
