coming: Timmy, Orange Micro Terror

Now that I have my bass board all dialed in (heh, heh) it's time to put the final touches to the lady's guitar board. A (suposidly) awesome drive pedal and an (apparently) awesome amp with a tube pre inside should do the trick on a budget.

Still want a Mini Rectofier though... and $1000 to buy one, heh...

just ordered one of the Lava soldered kits. i love the size of the connectors, and that's the only cable that'll work with the looper i want to use where i want to use it, but i fucking hated the solderless ones. they all gave out QUICK. without moving them a bunch. they were a WASTE of a hundred bucks.

BLEGH.

$100 for cables? :erm:

oh man, I hear you! I'm like a Lava cable assembly expert now thanks to the sick amount of time I've spent re-re-re-re-re-assembling those little bastards!

If it wasn't for how small they are and how damn GOOD the cables sound I'd 'ave given up and gone all Hosa or something a year ago.

Now they have soldered, great.... so I'll try to sell about $200+ worth of solderless cables and buy @$300+ worth of the soldered ones in replacement... Nope, fuck that! I'm just gonna have to PERFECT assembling these little bastards.... PERFECT!

The fun with Lava cables is finding the one that crapped out and needs to be re-assembled. No way am I giving that up by going soldered.

Ever since I blew 125 bucks on a shitload of George Ls, of which 70% crapped out within a year, I will never touch a solderless cable ever again.

Instead 30 bucks worth of those GLS pancake jacks, 15 bucks worth of Mogami cable, and about the same amount of time and effort spent, I have two whole pedalboards full of nice soldered cables. And if they ever stop working, all I have to do is open the plugs back up, and resolder the fuckers, which takes like 20 seconds.

NEVER again will I deal with that bullshit.

I really like these cables http://www.mammothelectronics.com/Cable ... -pnck5.htm You can also buy kits to assemble them I think. Really happy with mine, probably gonna buy more!

yah. you guys are talking about the same stuff. i use those to build most of my cables. it's just one pedal that won't work with pancakes.

Incoming: Dano guitar nut for my BassVI...thing.
Fixed the small annoying issues with it, now it can finally be fully setup. I do still need some super long screws but the hardware store should be able to hook me up tomorrow.
Also a few parts for buffered 2-in-2-out box and a Y-splitter. And some of those Mammoth patch cables, really stepping up from my rainbow eBay cables here. Fancy schmancy.
THUNDERBOLT BUDDHA WILL BE FULLY FUNCTIONAL SOON.

I say yay if you don't like soldering, nay if you do.
If a solderless cable goes lame on you at a gig, it'll take like 1 minute to fix it, providing you know which one is bad...
If a soldered cable goes lame on you at a gig, well, better have a soldering iron all heated up and ready.
...or you could just bring extra cables, which seems a good idea in any case...

Hey Behndy, yeah... I've gone shit-balls crazy using em.... my lady likes to watch me rewire the board sometimes cus my steady stream of curses and lamentations amuses her... apparently I'm a gifted bitcher... still, I think I finally got the hang of em, now that I can (almost) flawlessly assemble them. I mean, once I've fixed a problem cable, it remains fixed, and my success rate for assembling one right the first time is closer to 99%...about 5 months ago it was about 50%, which, you know, was fucking infuriating...

Overall I like em, and I recommend em, but with the caveat that if you don't want to be constantly messing with and testing your cables, get the soldered kind.

you suh, are the gifted exception i think. i fucking HATE solderless. i've only used Lavas and the cheapo one GC sales. both were just a waste of monies. EW.
