Am I the only one who feels like Fender is kind of in no man's territory? They're basically charging boutique prices for mass-produced, digital pedals with limited features.
You can spend around $300 with them, and get no MIDI or presets. Whereas you could spend $300 or less with someone else and get deeper features. If I'm spending $300, then I want more options and/or MIDI (Chase Bliss, Meris, Alexander, Source Audio, Red Panda, etc.).

Yeah I definitely feel the same way. It's sorta like when you see one of those weird Fender synths they made or something - the initial reaction is just "stay in your lane, guys."

The Chroma Polaris?

That actually sounds decent. If the douche in China would reissue oddballs like that instead of just recycling everyone's greatest hits, I'd have far less vitriol for him.

The Chroma Polaris was the second synthesizer made by Fender/Rhodes after they took over ARP, following their classic Rhodes Chroma. It has a classic analog ARP-like sound, kind-of tinny but also fat. Sounds can be layered up to 6 voices. It has typical analog synth controls including a cool 'sweep' knob for sweeping through the LFO or analog filter cutoff parameters. It also has a simple real-time sequencer and 132 memory patches.

Yeah definitely not bad, but it always has this sorta oddball feel, like it's just not right. It's like when you see a Gibson that tries to look like a Fender or vice versa. Or a Pearl delay pedal. It may be cool its own way, but always a little icky.

That Pearl delay is probably just about the only clunker in the entire series.

I understand what you mean. The world is filled with castoff bastards (like Changeez

).

When I look at this, I get the Vaselines in my head, but instead of
Jesus don't want me for a sunbeam, I imagine Jimi Hendrix's sister wants her late brother to be a sunflower.

I'm feeling the same way about the BOSS SY-1. I dig it but I wish it had the midi 1/4 out to save presets.

Yeah, I see where ya'll coming from, but I fully expect the price of these to bottom out double quick because of mass production —which is when I'll strike.

Totally agree! $199 isn't terrible but it'll drop in a few months (probably be on a few black friday sales).

Sold out immediately following the posting of that vid at all the junctions (TE official, Adult Swim, etc.), but it's really just a PO-35 with a different skin FWIW
