This is a MFOS WSG that I put into a book.

The wiring inside is super spaghetti, which was necessary so the cover could be opened without putting too much tension on the wires.
Using books as enclosures looks pretty cool but is also a pretty big pain in the ass.
I don't recommend doing this unless you are a glutton for punishment.

That book is the coolest thing ever! I love unusual enclosures. Did you shield the inside of it?

Thanks!

The PCB is in a regular enclosure turned upside down with the bottom off.
That enclosure sits in the compartment I cut out of the books pages.
Nothing is shielded but I have never had any problems due to that.

The WSG is pretty easy but has a ton of off board wiring and can get a little confusing at times.
They have some more advanced projects at MFOS too.

I have a cookie tin i purchased for a wsg but i didnt buy the pcb yet. The picogenerator and the dronelab are completely 555 or 556 based. I have those ic's already. There is so much that can be done with led & ldr. Whatever i do, i want to stick a cgs real ring mod in it. $30 for an assembled pcb. Dealextreme has tibeten chant boxes for $6 shipped. So thats the two sound sources to ring mod. You could plug the guitar in too. Might make small patch bay with a simple passive mixer. I just cant decide.

Those preassembled ring mods are no longer available. I'm sure you can still do them yourself however. How do you get them to work anyways? Like what sort of carrier signal? is needed to get them working?

Amp-in-a-day!!

Post by frequencycentral »

I know you guys are probably sick and tired of seeing my amps by now, but I gotta show you this one cos it's an amp-in-a-day! This morning it was just parts. I sanded, etched, drilled and painted the enclosure this morning. This afternoon I populated the PCB and put the whole thing together. Just finished testing. First time I've built one from scratch in a day, usually I do the PCB and enclosure etching day and do the build another day.

One of the ring mod inputs is identical to the output. It is a passive device and it is reversible.

Look who's talking. Building fancy pedals must be a Mid-atlantic thing. I try to do my best anyway. We should trade some stuff ;)
