Three months. But this is a big city and homeboy does just fine with the ladies. He's got no business calling my ex ever. Fuck if I ever called an ex of his he'd jump off the Aurora bridge and call to tell me I'm a bully and he hates me on the way down. Another thing, I don't talk to her much anymore but I see him every week day. He asked her out on Wednesday and then was over here Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and somehow forgot to mention it to me so I found out from her on Saturday. So I confront as a you would expect and was there an apology? Nope. Excuses. Like he was going to hit me with some reason for it that makes actual sense to a grown up. That is some weasely slimdickin bullshit.

So that Ampeg is cool but I have to turn the treble all the way down (ie: OFF) to get my sound to start happening. I've had to jack up the bass on lots of combo amps but never have I had to turn the treble off. At any rate, it's been fun and now I don't have to feel like a jerk having this 1x12 gathering dust. I think I'll sell off that little Fender Bronco amp now since I don't really need it anymore.

Fuck man...that sucks...i think its just an unwritten law among men, that shit like that is just not on.

i feel your pain bud, i had a similar thing years ago, i was a lot younger, so it ended with a fist fight. Needless to say never saw or spoke to that "friend".

On the Ampeg thing, that sounds a little disappointing, at least you get a sound you like, but it gives you no where to go on the EQ side.

Summit..your gear is looking amazing mate.

I'm getting some serious gear envy...I wish i had a spare room or a basement so i could amass some sweet gear!

I'm actually thinking of changing my head to something clean only...been looking at the Bassman as a good option or the Laney GH50 or GH100...anyone else got any suggestions?

I feel like the GH50/100 would give you some sharp ass cut-a-bitch tones, maybe like early Mastodon? Someone on here informed me that they don't do very well with dirt pedals though. :/

Clean only you say? SOVTEK! SOVTEK! I saw a band using one of those Verellen modified Jet City's... You might be able to do something similar with their 50 or 100 watter?

Wah?! Does he not care how difficult that would make things? It always does. I don't understand people sometimes. It's like they relish suffering... You know what, I do understand that. It happens so fucking much that I've stopped being surprised. It's both a shock and a prediction.

I love mine but would change certain aspects of it that I don't quite like. Firstly, I feel it needs a separate footswitch for two different gain ranges, and a switch to take it from Super Bass to Super Lead specifications, or just a tone knob to boost the highs slightly. If you've tried the Pharaoh you'll know that it can sound dull and muffled at low volumes, but can roar and come alive when pushed. This is the same for the Revelation Super Bass. It's really smooth and dark at low gain settings, but crank it up and it sears and comes alive with harmonics. I dig the low gain tones for lighter lead work, but I don't want to have to bend over to fiddle with knobs (TWSS) when I'm seeking a higher gain sound and want the guitar to leap out from the speaker. I might talk to Mark to see if any of this is possible. I think it's an awesome circuit, but to me it's not perfect. Still, I won't be getting rid of it unless Mark can modify it for me. It's the first Marshall Super Bass in a box I've heard that actually replicates the sensation I get when I play a genuine vintage Marshall Super Bass. The association and representation is perfect.

They are unloading their ampeg GVT's - heads and combos! I picked up the 15w head for $250. Get 'em while they're there! Pics in the rig thread pending...
Sadly they won't ship them to Ireland. Thanks for the heads up though.

I don't think that's a big deal personally. Every Matamp and some of the Fryettes I've tried sounded better with the treble completely off. They're still two of my favourite amp companies.

Yeah, the Verellen Mod Jet City JCA20 that I had didn't break up until about like 8-9 on the dial and it was all power tube distortion. Just depends on how loud you need to be, since that's only 20 watts.

I wonder if Ben would be up to modding one of the higher wattage Jet City heads? Probably. Althought with the increase in price you might not be too far off from a Verellen of your own??

I would love a Verellen amp...or even a modded Jet City...but being in UK means that shipping something like that would make it impossible.

I might however be able to get a Jet City and get a local builder to mod it...is the mod basically to increase headroom? or is there some kind of magic dust that only Ben can do??

I'm not over my current amp...its really nice, but the popping sound between clean and other channels pissed me off. Id just use the crunch channel for a while setting it to relatively clean and then switching to Lead for distortion, which is fine. But when i want to use fuzz, or OD pedals, they sound crap on the crunch channel, and if i am switching to the clean i get the massive pop sound. Maybe i should bit the bullet and take if in for repairs!

The "Verellen Mod" to the Jet City's is just 1 added resistor that bleeds off the gain. You could easily have a local tech do it, and I believe skully cataloged where and what type of resistor is to be added.

ok...so relatively simple.

and those jet city 50w heads are on sale as well...could sell my head and have cash to spare!

does anyone know how the jet city takes pedals? especially of the fuzz variety?

I can't speak for the stock Jet City, but the one with the mod was THE platform for pedals. It ruled

I never liked the way the Jet City amps took pedals, but that was probably because they already had so much distortion. Without gain I have no idea.

They're fucking ace. My old guitarist has the 1x12(?) combo (along with a MIG50), and they sound great, especially with something like an OCD boosting them. I don't remember if we ran any fuzz in front of it, but my inclination is to say no--fuzz was basically my bag as far as the sonic spectrum went with that group.

Also, gonna voice an unpopular opinion and say three months is long enough for someone to be out of a relationship and therefore fair game. But I'm not the biggest proponent of monogamous, committed relationships, so my take is probably skewed.

That is odd - maybe they need to be matched with darker sounding speakers? Mine is scheduled to arrive Wednesday and it will be paired with an Eminence Wizard / Swamp Thang, which I think should be pretty okay. I'm just hoping it takes pedals well, as at the moment it is impossible for me to lug around full stacks and 200W heads. :(
