Thoughts and ramblings (SPOILERS!):

As has been stated, the pacing was a bit weird. Some breathing room had been great. Like, Kylo Ren was Han Solo's son, and the scene where he killed Han was strong, but it would have worked even better if their relationship had been better established. They could've met like they did in this movie, had a heart wrenching one-to-one, but saved the patricide for later? It felt a bit rushed, but it still worked.
Rey is awesome. A great character. Yes, she picked stuff up fast, but imagine that you grew up hearing stories about the force and the various tricks you could pull off with it. Luke didn't have that advantage. Her light saber skills seem obvious, as she was already a great fighter. But the best part was her personality, which seemed to have some actual depth to be explored during the course of the trilogy.
Kylo Ren was another great character. Dark and brooding, but flawed, with violent emotions. A nice take on the sith in dark clothing. I have to say though, when he removed his mask, my immediate thought was "Damn, why didn't you cast Benedict Cumberbatch?!" I'm a huge Sherlock fan though, and the actor they chose did a great job. I just love me some Cumberbatch.
New Death Star seemed sort of lazy, but then again, the Empire had a good plan, and it does sort of make sense that they would keep on trying. A weapon that destroys planets does seem to be the obvious choice in such a universe, what else would they build? Also, the First Order were nicely menacing, I liked that Hitler-speech scene. I need to see more of Snoke before deciding whether I like him or not, but he was fittingly mysterious in a movie where the other bad guys put their cards on the table rather quickly.
What was up with Max von Sydow/Lor San Tekka? Such a great actor makes me think he played an important role, and how exactly did he find the piece of the map to Luke? Why did Luke leave a map in the first place? R2D2 suddenly powers on the moment Rey enters the base... Maybe I've forgotten some plot point explaining this. Anyway, that final scene with Luke was perfect, IMO. Damn, Hamill looks perfect. I had goosebumps, after the somewhat rushed previous scenes.
So basically, I'm looking forward to the next movie - this felt more like an introduction (which it naturally is), I wanna see where this is going. Luke is at the first force temple, why? Lastly, I'm calling it: Rey is the incestous child of Luke and Leia.
