The non bitchy/sore-assed people here, who've actually chatted with me since joining know I'm big into dystopian future themed sci-fi, horror flicks etc.
Also the original Mad Max trilogy.
So when a passive-aggressive fool who
-is too basic for reading (on an internet forum

)
-counterproductively tries insulting intelligence
-goes keyboard warrior and flames someone who disagrees
I'm going to bask in it with a can of gas and strike anywhere matches.
It's not about winning, it's about sending a message.
Fuck small-minded narcissism and the test tube this dude was born in.

Rusty, you say the original trilogy, does that mean you actually liked Beyond Thunderdome? If you did, I can't see why you wouldn't like the new one, which is way superior to BT imo.
Fury Road is an entertaining movie that manages to keep high octane chase action interesting for a couple of hours, and looks pretty great. It also avoids some of the usual pitfalls for this kind of movie. In short, I think it's great the same way I think Die Hard or Pitch Black is great - because it takes a simple concept, and comes close to perfecting it with an occams razor sort of mindset.

Not at all. Remember, because my viewing is incomplete and I dislike what I've seen...I'm the idiot for not watching more.
I want to give it another chance but still haven't been in the mood to try again.
Its whole aesthetic is off-putting and shouldn't be. I was expecting to be all about this movie.
Instead what I see is the overhyped type of shit to make Bruckheimer say "hey now, lets show a little depth and character development folks"
It claims to be official MM but feels like it's poorly written fanfic on the big screen
@Elvind
Love Beyond Thunderdome, I know most fans of the original & RW feel some kinda way about it.
You don't see me holding grudges & crying how they're idiots.
To sum up my IMOs:
Beyond Thunderdome was very Hollywood, a tall tree with much low-hanging fruit. It still had charm and nuance as integral as the graphic action.
BT had a particularly interesting, dark sub-narrative, the contrast between extreme examples of imperialist and socialist societies, with a broader focus on themes of anthropology and sociology. Its dirty aesthetic feels dirty.
FR strives to be a caricature of everything very Hollywood in BT, while replacing the tree with a fancily decorated, small plastic palm.
In the FR footage I haven't seen...is there any sub-narrative other than "tyrant bad, slavery bad, for women in particular, fight the power!"
Its dirty aesthetic reeks of "too pretty"
But never mind all that, this is the question that matters

To be fair, you're kind of doing the exact same thing aren't you? I mean, that is a bit hypocritical dude. Just saying.
Also, answer the question. Did you watch the movie? I seriously did not see if you said so and am waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy too lazy to look through all these pages.
One more thing. Why don't you guys just both like agree to stop bitching at each other. Wouldn't that be easier?

Also this movie is too old be talking about anymore. We need some different 'hey, you should see xyz' threads before this one keeps coming up. You wanna talk about mad max do it with your conscience. A threads placement on the first page is priceless! JEEZ!!!

I'll be starting my "Hey go see Deadpool" thread in a few days. That way we have close to five months to talk about it before it gets old.

Fury Road was pretty good but I though that night time sequence really dragged the movie down a notch. It just felt so forced and out out place, and all it did was to clumsily ram the theme of destructive patriarchy, down your throat in case you missed it. It could have easily been cut or trimmed right down without losing anything. And it went on for what felt like forever.

I just watched it again last night (viewing #4). Still needs to be talked about- gets better with subsequent viewings. The night scene was definitely the weakest part of the movie.

Point 1:
I try to be mild mannered & mimic the level of respect I'm shown...on some don't-bring-it-unless-you-want-beaten-at-your-own-game shit.
I don't argue opinions or try to justify them, I do contrast and attempt to articulate my thought process in hope of improving it. Also silliness.
Point 2:
You missed the part where I call myself a hypocrite even before the shitlord crap began...and thus the true silliness of this exchange.
Here is the lazy-friendly version: 30s read tops between 2 jump-to-post links.
I was responding to someone else with some mostly silly musings (that should also answer your 2nd question better than "yes and no")
and he chimed in on some whiteknight shit to call me stupid in a roundabout way because my opinion on this movie was interpreted as a personal attack...and offended someone who I wasn't even talking to/about. I even tried to diffuse it with some humor but he's too invested to have just walked away or respond reasonably and ever since has been (ineffectively) attacking me, personally. Turnabout is fair play.
I don't suffer fools, but I do cause fools to suffer.
When I say it's 2ez to shred whatever bullshit insults are sent my way and spin straw into gold...take me at my word

That is not a inaccurate take on it, I LOVE post apocalyptic movies, as long as there aren't toooo many zombies I usually don't mind anything… it takes a lot to really rub me the wrong way, this one did for some reason… I kept waiting for it to take off and get to the point and when they did… it just felt like a cheap shot
