Book your campground now if you can find one. There really isn't much right now (but maybe kids being back in school will clear out some spots). Seriously, check out College Cove/Trinidad and the Smith River. Awesome places right on the one and on the way. Try to get a campground at the Smith River campground (it is nice)...book online though. You can cut over to Grant's Pass from the Smith River too (right outside crescent city). Stay on the Coast if you have the time though.
There used to be an open beach with free hippy interaction/camping up north of Trinidad but the parks department took it away. Just stop and stay. Sad that it is gone.
We just went past Pinnacles/King City/Monterey. Carmel-by-the-Sea is so nice.

Updated the OP with dis:
Well, it was a crazy fucking summer. Made it back to home base a few days ago.
Drove approximately 14,200 miles in just under 4 months.
I had a good amount of support from ILF along this journey and I couldn't be more fortunate. Everyone's responses in this thread guided me to some cool places (mainly New Mexico, seriously y'all that recommended that are the best, that state is fucking beautiful), not to mention all y'all that hung out with me and let me crash at your place. Seriously, y'all fucking rock. Shout outs!

Yeah. On my phone. Which died for no reason in Seattle

I still have the phone for potential data recovery, but still.

Good times kbit! I went to to Frank in the 3rd Dimension at Frye the other night. It was epic and I wish you could've been there. Take care man

Aw man I bet that was awesome! I was just reading The Portable Frank earlier tonight. Such incredible characters/story telling.
Hope Rosie is keeping you in check while I'm not around
