going back to clapton, i just don't see the emotion. its too calculated. too right, so to speak.

even if you look at some of the most emotional renniasance paintings and sculptures, the era in art most renowned for it's exacting naturalistic tendancies. take the Pieta. and look at Mary's proportions. absolutely horrid.
but compared to the most detailed chuck close paintings, its still more dramatic and emotional.

thats all beside the point that the main goal of photorealism is craft more than art (i will debate that to death)

You know... it might seem a good idea to lump 3 manga volumes in one mega volume but it really isn't. I thought when they said volumes 8,9,10 I would be getting three books not one big one :wha?: it makes it harder to read and throws off symmetry...

And it sucks when you want to re-read one part but you have to hunt for it.

You wanna talk about cumbersome collections of literature? Try getting a book that's two Tom Clancy novels put together. Fucking like a billion pages. Almost completely turned me off from the author too.

Alright... I had the day off yesterday and really didn't do shit except for sit in front of my computer like a butthole. I'm supposed to be recording two records and I haven't read anything out of a book for like three weeks.

I'm banning myself from ILF for a week, and thusly I am officially killing this thread FOR GOOD.

See you in another life, brotha.

I feel the same way. what a coincidence
eatyourguitar wrote:I'm really into sloppy line drawings that are somewhat inspired by highly technical impressionist movement. sloppy isn't the word. its like intentional disfigurement to destroy art paradigms and replace them with directly connected emotions. cause to me, thats where the meaning is in art and music.

You mean like caricatures? :p

nah, more like painting/drawing really fast without regard for technical skill or realism. sometimes I draw with my eyes closed. when I do line drawings I tend to not pick up the pen from the paper cause I feel that brings hesitation into the piece and therefor it would loose its spontaneous vibe. a caricature artist have way more skill and are constrained only to the vague likeness of the subject. I try to create the subject or the scene from my subconscious and of course the conscious. the images are equally vague but less contrived and calculated.

"intentional disfigurement" is simple...anybody can color outside the lines. using "directly connected emotions" to reinvigorate "art paradigms" is far more challenging.

i totally agree that photorealism is less art, more craft. although getting good at it will help your art, but it's kind of the same thing as learning scales.

you know who i really like? egon schiele. i feel like everything he does is perfect.

If that were the case, then everybody would be talking about Jeff Lynne like they should.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

My band covers "Xanadu"! Let me see if I can find a shitty link to a shitty video!

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/14551017[/vimeo] <----how do you imbed that?

It's only our 3rd show, so PLEASE skip ahead to 15:00 for the Wings' "Jet" straight into "Xanadu" (which is SPOT ON), and excuse the shitty audio/video quality (captured by an old blown out hippie who loves any kind of "footage") and remember that we're drunk and also listen for a Fuzzhugger AB-Synth 5k and a Devi US Fuzz! (before I got my Algal Bloom)

And if THAT doesn't kill this thread, then nothing can.

that was actually really well done, woodman. impressive :D
