F below E, I assume?
You needed to ask?
I may just buy a new bridge and nut for the ol' Samick...it was probably made in the same factory as most <500$ basses anyway. That and a set of crazy thick strings.
Also fuck if I knew Neurosis were playing in Portland on a weekend I would have so been there. Damn.

I mean you could try tuning up to F.

Oh I know. Last jam we had I was using a borrowed 5 string tuned for C standard and used the open F on that...but it just doesn't bring the thunder as much as it could.

I just listened to mine and it is pretty bad. Wondering if Brutal Panda messed up the press and will make it right.
I emailed them and they said that there was nothing with the records and that
they were sped up 5 bpm so that they would fit at 45rpm. When I asked why they didn't just run it at 33 and leave the songs the same tempo and why my record has no low end they didn't reply. I waited a few days and asked what they were gonna do about my shitty sounding record and they never replied again. I know what label I won't be buying anymore merch from from now on. Fuck those guys right up their asses with a jackhammer.
you've got to be fucking kidding? what kind of shit is that? i can't believe a band would let that slide. what's so important about having it at 45 anyway? and guess what happens when you try and cram too much music onto vinyl? it sounds like shit. i would just be so pissed, as a band, as a fan, whatever. this actually makes me lose some respect for the label for sure.
45 is supposed to sound better I think, I believe I read that somewhere when I was looking up how I should go about pressing our vinyl. I dunno though, whatever reason it sounds bad for they never said "Hey, maybe you just got a one off bad record, let us replace it for you." I would have been perfectly happy with that even if the replacement sounded just as bad. At least they would have tried to make it right that way.

General rule of thumb is that higher speed is better sound quality.
Basically it's 75% audiophile bullshit, but if you ever ran into a situation where all other variables were exactly the same (because that totally happens and is utterly realistic), the 45 would be better than the 33.
Of course, making the songs playback at a higher bpm means that they sound different than the original anyway, which defeats the entire purpose of putting it on a 45.

I was thinking it might assist in fattening up the germ. mode on the pdx, making it a bit more usable/versatile. The 308 mode is the only way I'm digging it, it'd be nice to frre up some more options.
Pretty sure I have a hole bunch of pole throwing porno on my hard drive.
I'm a SPST guy though. Not into that kinky shit, plus, you know, I'm getting older.
Anyone else got 2c on comps and RATs/germ distortions?
I love boosting the Pharaoh with The Accountant. In fact, that's one of my favourite things to do with the new compressor. It makes the Pharaoh sound clearer, but still thick, fuzzy and mean as fuck. It adds more sustain, and harmonics that usually only leap out if you're running the pedal flat out into a stupid loud amp. I can't remember whether I tried the germanium setting on the Pharaoh with the compressor because I thought it might be too noisy, but I'll try it tomorrow morning. I'll also try boosting my Iron Horse (a RAT clone) and let you know the results. I may be able to record something with my phone as well. I'm not sure.
Forrrest wrote:I've been thinking about it, and if I do want that tone, and it is the volume causing the feedback/sustain problems then it is a reasonable suggestion.
I honestly have no idea how to help, really. I'm just shooting ideas into the wind and hoping they land somewhere useful for you. All the best with it, mate. It could be something simple, but it might be hard to find.
LOCOPELAND wrote:Angry, that pharaoh enclosure looks AWESOMEEEEE
Yeah, Mark and his custom artist did it for a guy I know two years ago and I fell in love with it immediately when he posted pictures. When he was selling it I bought it straight away. It's the only time I've ever owned the same pedal twice. I had a very early Pharaoh from back in the days when Mark was selling in the HCFX Doom Room, but I let that one go to pay for the newly finished one.

i should be back on now as work is slowing down a bit.
Good to see you, man.

I went to The Guitar Store last night to check out the new location. I saw an Ampeg GVT15H and commented that they're pretty cool. He mentioned they were discontinued and I said I was bummed that I couldn't afford one while they were around. He said I could trade two pedals for one. SO I DID IT. Holy shit! I still haven;t really cranked it yet because it was hella late last night when I finally got home and I've been busy all morning and still got a couple hours ahead of me. I can't wait!

What?! They're discontinued? Fuck.
Nice one either way, mate. Congrats!

Yeah, I would much rather sacrifice the marginal sound quality for the original speed. That's basically rewriting the music. I don't necessarily mind when songs are converted to 432hz to hit that "natural" tone as some have called it, but even then I'd feel like I was cheating the original creators and their vision.

So my main buddy asked my ex out. And now we have a show with his band on 12/20. I hope I can stop wanting to twist his pencil neck off by then.

Just got home from working the merch for the neurosis show. On top of the fact that it's always awesome working with them and their crew, they totally killed it, as usual. What a great band. A good group of folks and they take care of their crew too.

Can anyone school me on the mobius? I kinda want a rotary used the track, but if the lex is on the mobius anyhow, it might be better for mywwallet to grab a used mobius, yes?
the rotary was one of the things that held me back from selling the mobius, but alas it was all too much for me ^^
simply put: the rotary is awesome, i don't think i'd buy any of the stand alone strymons except for the delays. for the money i'd rather get the mobius again.
AWESOME!

Cheers bud.

But, sounds like a better situation either way. Thanks a heap duder!

Awkward.
And I'll never understand why that shit happens.
You won't get over that feeling by then. If you do, then you ARE the Buddha.

Dudes, I have cool friends that play heavy jams. Let's talk about ITCoS. Let's talk about riffs.

Very nice sir. I love mine. So much that I was actually considering picking up a second one to just run an Ampeg stereo rig.
I'm also pumped to see what you do with your new pedal.

Yep. Too lazy to requote here, but it sucks that the label did that shit intentionally. I love the record, but don't listen to the vinyl because it just doesn't sound right. Oh well...
