One of them does alright, he has one of those modern player Jags. Other guitarist has a Jazzmaster too with Jazz neck and HB bridge.Corey Y wrote:I'm jealous man, if I had basement it would already be converted into iso rooms for recording. I just have the smallest bedroom in our house converted into a mixing room, with my smallest rigs setup for quick demo tracking. I'm in just getting ready to convert our garage into a wood shop right now, so I don't have to go down to my work in cracktown every time I want to make something.ryan summit wrote:guys heres a quick shot of my new dungeon

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Oh boy I seem to have run away with Kowloon Walled Bunny tinkerings. I built it up in the briefcase and dug it. You already know that. But I didn't want to just leave it alone. It was a little bit thin and lacking in balls so I added a pinch of mosfet boost at the end. But then it wasn't rowdy enough so I put an Ape Blaster gain stage on a footswitch and DAMN. Added some serious scrotum. I wanted to have a depth control out front so I set up a cap blend on the input and got basically nothing. I kept changing out the caps to values that were more and more disparate and even with the 330p on the skinny side and a 220n on the fat I was hearing pretty much zero difference. I figured maybe it was late or maybe I was just Herculean baked (because both of those are true) but I must've been doing something wrong that I just couldn't see. So I pulled both of those caps and put them on a switch. Still pretty much nothing. I'm no wizard but I blame the bias voltage coming in on that node. ANYWAY, I'm going to tack on a Rat style filter control to the front of that outgoing mosfet stage and also a volume control for the footswitchable Ape Boost™. I think I'll make a product of it. It sounds killer. Here's a pic first thing in the morning before any filtering or boost voluming.

Yes but that one is all ready burned into many peoples minds from watching the movie so many times as a kid. My word is alot less commonly used and there fore takes more focus to say when under pressing conditions.new05002 wrote:i dig Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious more

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Indeed.
I'm trying to visualize this thing in my head:
KWB (which I assume you're keeping the same)
+
Footswitchable Ape Blaster Boost (I haven't tried one of them, so I've got no tonal reference there) with the Rat Filter & volume knobby?
So...
Five knobs, two footswitches?

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Five knobs and two footswitches! At least if this other volume control and filter both pan out. If it was just for me I'd leave it three knobs and two switches. But added flexibility is good. The 'boost' portion is just one gain stage from the Ape Blaster. It's loud, distorted and clipped to shit. So think of it as a LOUD nastyass rowdiness enhancer more than a clean boost or anything like that. The regular KWB and D+ sound so great but they fall short in the outrageous retardgain department that the true aficionado may sometimes require. That's where my expertise makes all the difference.
LOL, expertise!

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
It'll be a few days. I imagine I'll get the values all buttoned up by the end of the day but then I'll have to sit down and draw it. Holy shit I can do that in Eagle now! I still kinda dig drawing them out by hand though...
