Ugh, trawling through the internet looking for what pedal Pike used on the leslie/roatary sounding part of Dopesmoker to recreate it live, and I'll I'm getting is pages and pages of morons on TGP and other sites dissing HoF and Sleep and doom in general. Why do you tantalise me with partial answers and then destroy my faith in humanity, Google? WHY?!

Ugh, to circus metal as well. Unless we're talking the first Mr. Bungle album (which they consistently try and emulate. And fail.). That's a whole other story.

Score on the Randall, Matt.
Yeah, I'm using your real name now.

Did he use that?
I'd never heard of it and just looked it up. Couldn't find a decent demo of it. People do seem to dig the leslie emulator, though.
There's one on ebay for like $70, but who knows if I could find an Aus power supply to match, and then the shipping would be crushing, as the seller won't post to Australia.
Ah well.

i went to see an awesome band last night, agrimonia from sweden. there's a couple of folks in the band that i know to varying degrees, and they fucking rule. three of them ended up spending the night at my house. it so happens that their bass player was one of the guitarists for at the gates. i had met him before, but it was pretty cool to get to spend the morning hanging out with someone whose music has meant so much to me. he was a super fucking cool guy, as is everyone in that band. at the gates would definitely be high up in the running if i had to name my favorite metal band. sometimes it's just so cool how small the world can end up being. like someone from your favorite band ends up being in a band with a friend and friends of friends and then you end up just getting to cook breakfast and drink coffee and shoot the shit together in your own living room. how cool is that?

anyway, everyone who can should make a point of going to see agrimonia. they're touring most of the US for the next three or four weeks and they fucking slay. really great band and really awesome folks to be supporting. great swedish metal with a heavy dose of punk sensibility.

Everything about this post is pure win. Reminds me of the first time I played a show with Mastodon and they all hung out with us and made the same retarded fart jokes we did. Someone who's album I blasted on a daily basis and had a huge impact on me was standing in front of me shooting the shit. Still seems unreal everytime I see Brann in Little 5 Points he remembers my name and shows that we played together.

My one decent pedal demo. I need to get off my ass and record some more.
and i thank you for this.

anyone got a comparison between the black forest and the fuck od/mini?
I don't have any demo comparisons, sorry, but the Black Forest is rattier (not necessarily like a RAT per say, just 'rattier'), more aggressive and more wiry. The Fuck/Mini is smoother, warmer, sweeter, more syrupy and just as fuzzy when the gain is cranked but tight and clear with the gain down. The gain knob reacts in the same way. The BF is kinda foggy like a cranked Orange, but the Fuck/Mini is more like a small amp cranked into submission.

Fine. It sounds kinda transparent at low volume/distortion, like a Klon or a Lovepedal. It's a proper preamp-y sounding pedal so it doesn't need loads of volume like some pedals do.

Since a lot of people are into uke in my town these days I thought I'd post this. Wouldn't mind playing in this kind of acoustic duo...

Quick post. On the phone, so I can't suss those vids.
Forgot to say thanks to john for the peavey info. Sorry mate, when you dropped that, my brain went into seek and acquire logistics mode. I got stuck on the hunt.
But thanks, man!

Also cheers to angry on the mini fuck info. I've been curious about one for a while, but there are hardly any demos out there.
You just made it sound pretty viable with that description.

I will suss this at the gates related stuff. I was a big fan of the haunted for a while there, so this is bound to be cool.

Found this cool band. They're Sludgy and Stonery, but they also have double bass drums and atmospheric stuff, so I'd say it's more Post-Metal than most people would really like here, but still I thought I'd share. I think they're from Switzerland, which is cool.

louder then fuck has a very very nice volume knob. its super linier and tapers nice and slow until 7 then from 7 - 10 it goes from "loud" to "oh my FUCKIN GAAAWD"

Good to know that my AD experience wasn't atypical.
