I have a website now.
http://www.electricheatpedals.com/ It's tiny and humble. I didn't write the copy, it was lifted from the Tommy's Guitar Shop website. Anyhow, that was the main stuff I was planning to say today but then I read this:
conky wrote:Single notes and dissonant chording was on the verge of being muddy, but still articulate enough to come through the mix. Stacking the Rat into it helped tighten it up some but it seemed to kill a little more low end than I would like. I think I'm gonna have to Ruetz mod it to get those lows back.
And I really have to recommend an Ape Blaster. Note definition and chord clarity are what it's all about and there's plenty of bass. There are guys on this very forum that can verify these claims. Everybody knows I'm the Ape Blaster guy so I try not to spam out this place. But I've got a hunch that it would get some of you guys closer to where you want to go with the dirt soundz so I decided to speak up today

Is there a KWB schematic around or is what the guy says in this thread enough info to go on?

The Ape Blaster has been on my want list for a good while now. Haven't heard one bad thing about it so far.

3mm LED for one diode, and silicon for the other. Increased gain, and increased volume. I also like .1uf output cap and .01uf input cap for more low end!

Yeah, I built mine from a general guitar gadgets Dist+ kit, Ben actually told me how to do the mods, and I ran with it. You run one diode through a pot so you can increase the clipping on that diode to taste. He also had suggested putting sockets for the diode in, and you can swap the clipping diodes on the fly and see what sound you like. I have been running a silicone in one and a germanium in the other. If i could build it, any one can.

Silicone, for those extra-squishy tones without natural sag.

And thanks for that info deathmonkey! I've been meaning to fool around with D+ stuff but never get around to it. I have a super old one and I like the quality of the distortion but not the eq. No bass! I've never wanted to mod it though because it's old and mojoey etc
