Hey. John from Hangrr 18 (H18, duh) where some of you may be convening Feb. 2nd for the summit. I have plumbed the depth of fuzz the likes of which could make ice giants shiver, though mostly achieved through unconventional and improvised means. Of this I can speak no more without betraying dark secrets. Anyway, hello and salut!

I am so far quite happy with the general vibe of this forum! If anyone would like to direct me to an area where bitching, infighting and character assassination take place, I'll get some popcorn and check it out. But everyone seems pretty civil round these parts.

Hey all....

My name is Jeff and.. I love Fuzz... Ive been addicted to Fuzz for years now and I just cant give it up. I last Fuzzed yesterday for a couple of hours. I just feel theres no hope for me.... Its getting out of hand.... I dont know how to stop. There's just something about that ultra sub harmonic devastation that I cant do without.... I need help dammit.

In all seriousness tho, I first dabbled with Fuzz when I joined a band and they all used Big Muffs as their distortion. I had always dismissed Fuzz as a 70s thing, but then I discovered that a majority of Doom Metal bands use ultra high gain Fuzz pedals, and being a doom musician, I quickly got up to speed on it.

Us musicians are a funny bunch, we stick with what we know. Its hard to get us to change. Historically, the bands I had been in used distortion pedals in conjunction with guitar heads to create a distorted sound. The Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal pedal was the most sought after pedal of its time, and then the Metal Zone became the norm in the 90s... Using Fuzz created some other sounds that just dont come out of a distortion pedal and I see it as maturing as a musician, like adopting different tunings.

Anyway, I currently have some homebrew pedals im working on. Im looking for "that sound" for my music. The closest ive heard yet is the Nine Of swords Tyrant pedal, just for the awesome amount of gain it has. Any suggestions on high gain pedals will be welcome.

My favourite bands are The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Raveonettes, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Velvet Underground and my own songs are inspired by the sounds of shoegaze, 60s garage, surf music and psychedelia. Nice to meet you all.

I gotta say this is one of the chillest forums I've been on. Everyone seems very cool and well-informed on gear, and it's a pretty fun ride.

hello :thumb:

Bass effects junkie from UK.

Been lucky to play all sorts of music in all sorts of place's

Recently sold all my pedals, and now building back up again with my 3rd TAFM for starters (this ones a keeper due to the custom art work Bri did for me).

I play 5 string fretless, and would have a fretted bass if I had the spare cash.

Take it easy

Hello people of ILF!

I'm Andy (in case the username wasn't clear), living in Madison, Wisconsin, US. I'm in my late 30's, haven't been in a band in a couple years, what with the child-rearing (4x over) and gimpy spouse. And also getting a heavy prog project to last is a real toughie (!). My favorite guitarists are Robert Fripp, Alex Lifeson, Adrian Belew, Frank Zappa, John McLaughlin, Steve Morse, Jerry Cantrell, etc. I love my Mesa Boogie Mark V head, my partscaster, and my Foxrox stash. Hoping to get it on with some Dr. Scientist modulation in the near future (Cosmichorus v3, Tremolessence). Would love to score a sweet Buzzaround clone and my friend's vintage Ram's Head.

Cheers
Andy
