If you want more clean headroom look into some preamp tube swaps. 12au7 and 12at7 in slot 1&2 respectively will tame some of the gain, at least, that's what I was reading as I was considering picking one of these up cheap.
At their price, I've heard they're excellent platforms for all sorts of mods. I've heard they get a little fizzy on the higher end of their stock gain, but that could be people with shitty tubes.

Yeah, whatever. I barely frequent there anymore do to a couple forumites being complete cocksuckers. SG's, Tele's and Jazzmasters all day, son. The occasional LP DC Jr is the closest I'll get to a les paul.

The Orange head itself is actually white tolex, the cabs are paint.

Ive been loving this valve junior I bought last week for the bedroom DOOMz, especially that EL84 crunch, thought why not get more of them. Went from a 5 watt tube amp to a 100 watt one in a week. Yeah. Actually sounds great for bass to, like a Ric through a marshall esk grind. I've opened a new black hole in GAS. Again DEM TUBEZZZZZZZZZZZ
Dude a Windsor + CR120 setup would be hotness. One of those CR120's is definitely in my future.

I had too much other shit in my post to quote in the DR. Good shit man. I bet that's a killer dual rig.

Another shot of the rig that was posted in the gear thread. Here's a geeky fact incase anyone has never noticed before, look closely and you'll see the mis-print on the face plate. The bass clef is backwards, lol. Wonder how many of these were actually issued before someone said "HEY looky here guys!!"

I had to sell my entire rig due to financial problems quite awhile ago (load of pedals, an old 5150 block letter, 2x1960's, general shit) but kept my Axe Fx Ultra (haven't seen one around here, essentially a high-er end guitar/cab/pedal modeler) for recording and playing through headphones.

Since DI seems to be a sin around here, I thought it would be cool to doom out a bit (or at least to the best of my ability) without a real amp at all. But god knows I miss tubes... have a deal buying an Orange TH100 pending and I couldn't be more stoked.

Fifty years from now snobs will be all like, "the backwards bass note is the best version, it totally beats the standard version, more bass."

Does anyone have an opinion on Spector basses? I'm looking at picking up a five string and these really seem the most appealing. I'm thinking one of the euro models. I had a pretty nice 4 string version bit I prefer a precision for 4. There's a really nice emerald green one local that I'm considering if I can get some stuff sold in time.

I really fucking dig the way Spectors play and sound. Feel buttery as hell. Super comfy necks. With that said, I think they're ugly as a motherfucker, but hey that's just me.
