I'm up in the air about whether to do that project or possibly make this beauty mine...
It's a 1991 Fender jazz plus with Lace sensor PU's and the awesome Kubicki designed preamp. Controls (stacked): Volume, Pan, Bass, Treb. Four Setting Rotary Knob: "Off," Passive, Active and Active with adjustable mid boost.
It's a smaller body and headstock as well which I like, just like the American jazz deluxe.
It's a sick instrument

I was on the hunt for one of those JB Pluses for a long time. This was a while ago. You could get a "super jazz"-ish bass for a really good price; like under a G. Having said that I've never actually played one so I don't know if they stack up to other Fenders and it's super expensive cronies.
PS; at the same time I was looking for a JB Plus; I was also on the hunt for a PBass Elite II. Cool Story.

They're like a jazz on steroids, but it's not really fair to compare it to a standard I guess... The Kubicki makes it sounds huge.
I have the chance to buy that one possibly this weekend, but I'm still negotiating with the guy. The price is a wee bit on the high side, but nothing outrageous. He's the original owner and it's perfect condition.

I had a fiver one of those... refinned it green and traded it for a Hog's Foot and a voodoo super fuzz

I liked it ok...I had it a long time but didn't play it much, I never took to the neck shape... sound... it was ok... but it was never as nice as a mid-high level ibanez to me...

My new monster! A 1979 Musician Ibanez, MC824

I love her! Lots of personality, dirty when played hard, lots of mids! Instant OM sound!

I finally settled my jazz dilemma.
My new baby... '62 American RI.
I got a pretty nice price for it. Used but in like new condition.
I already ordered the East Retro J preamp to drop in but this plays so goddamn good already and the action is tits. TITS I SAY.
