Also, while I do understand that getting the same money back as one had paid for a thing, I don't know how that is a guage for pricing. That would apply if you have a piece of gear for a very very short amount of time, which can't be happening thaaaaat often no? Occasionally I would flip something very quickly and then I guess it would be nice to get exactly what I paid back. But usually when I buy things I consider my money... spent
EDIT: read back in the thread and I did not realize I entered into a somewhat heated argument. So disregard all that

Well 3 bucks is silly clearly you should sell it for what you paid at least

Can we just stop posting shit that obviously aren’t deals?
This isn’t a dig at anyone but this thread is for online deals, not for arguing constantly.

Bleed over from the Tremolol 2020 thread I started. But the list price is too high. I’d rather just give David Rolo that money it I have to pay it.

There is a guy on the local ads selling a Fender Bassman 250 Head in mint condition for 80 bucks... seriously considering it. Should I?

if it's really mint, for 80 bucks, i mean..why not? we used to have one in our rehearsal space and it was pretty decent.

I won't do it. I decided to put the big ass Ashdown Head I have here to the practice space and get something really minimal for the flat, like the TC BAM200, it's more than enough for my small flat, where I play with headphones most of the time anyways...

Well if you play with headphones most of the time (like i do) probably that's a better idea. You could also check out the Shift Line Olympic if you want something with more tweaks, but it's definitely more expensive.

I only have two posts on ILF, so not much ethos behind me, but I wanted to weigh in on the "flipping" debate real quick. I asked an ex (when we were together) her opinion on flipping the CBA gen loss for profit cuz I didn't feel right about it. She is a small business owner and thought the question was ridiculous, of course I should sell it for profit. She's also pretty opportunistic and we ended up disagreeing on a lot of small, ethical dilemmas, but she had one really good point: if I sold it for the approx. 400 I paid for it new, it would have almost certainly been scooped up by someone trying to sell it for 800.
I listed it for 500 when they were going for 700+, hoping that would be a good middle ground. It got bought immediately and I figured the profit could recover for smaller hits I take financially on gear, and also assumed/hoped that the person who bought it had the money for that kind of expense and really wanted it.
I recently sold my Draume for exactly what I paid for it new (big regrets about selling it at all, but the dude who bought it sounded more active right now musically); sold a Stammen for slightly more than what I paid new for it (also regret), but 200 less than any other reverb listing; and sold a blooper for an 80 dollar loss (some amazing features with a deeply flawed workflow/interface).
Seems reasonable to want to break even, but it also seems reasonable to accept some financial hits occasionally when GAS gets the best of a person.
Lastly, and I'm sorry for moralizing so much here, I also need to frequently realize that my pedalboard, even after downsizing, is worth as much as a used car. I think a lot of moral justifications or conundrums about flipping go out the window. These are all luxury items, which isn't to minimize the achievements of builders or the inspiration their pedals can yield, nor the fact that all their prices seem totally ethical considering the work that goes into them. Each of my favorite pedals (CT5, Shallow Water (yup), Fuck Overdrive, Draume etc.) causes me to view music (and the world) a little differently. But... I don't need any of them to make music.
Alright, that got tangential. Also, I'll start listing stuff here (sorry I haven't before). That is definitely one way to avoid the bullshit of listing on reverb.
