Quick question:
If an oscillator is pitched through 1v/Oct control voltage (assuming everything is in tune) and I have a sequence running in a single octave (let's say the 1-2 volt octave) could I transpose that with a 1 volt offset to boost it an octave into the 2-3 volt range? I know it may be difficult to setup/dial in, but would that, in combination with a switch, be an easy way to switch octaves? If the switch is able to be triggered and held, even better?
Is there something I am missing? Everything I have read seems to think I would need a quantizer (and I understand that for perfect pitch via an imprecise dial/slider), but just voltage/math-wise doesn't it make sense to just dial in an offset and patch in when you need to transpose?

Ah, so there is something similar. From what I just read on it, it either adds or subtracts up to two volts to transpose octaves (without guess work). Couldn't the also ALM O/A/x2 (or any offset) work too if dialed in right?
Wouldn't it also allow for less than an octave transposition (or for kinda weird glides through related intervals...not necessarily perfect or actual defined pitches)?

Definitely no need to apologize! And you are right, any offset and a precision adder will allow you to transpose a sequence if you dial it in right. Add in a quantizer and dialling it in would be easier. The Beast's Chalkboard has that all in one module, but does impose some limits, like only being able to shift by octaves.

I'm thinking about grabbing one and modding the shit out of my current Mikrophonie. I might actually be interested in picking up a few used ones now that they will be plentiful so I can build some sort of Mikrophonie based rack with a bunch of different springs and attachments

Yeah, I have a Mikrophonie and a Doepfer A119 and that Ears replaces both beautifully.
I can always put them in my old Cell90 once my case is full anyway...
