i've had good luck with both Ruby and JJ's EL84 in my superbass, but i've switched to 6550 for more headroom. I think Nick could likely tell you what ones have the best life. Personally, i'd avoid GC at all costs.

Whatever works. I wouldnt pay the price that they will charge you at GC or what not. Find a good tech they usually get deals on tubes.

I was planning on using it for wetter, more phasery wahs ala Tycobrahe Parachute Wah, but I keep putting off buying an expression pedal because I never used regular wah much anyways. It's definitely super wet and syrupy though. I'm waiting to find a cheap broken wah and convert it into a TRS exp pedal so I don't have to spend $40 on a Moog.

I've had shitty dealings with GC on tubes in the past. They're the LAST people I would recommend.

Thanks for the advice guys. If we were not in the middle of recording i'd just take it to brian east in seattle and have him go through it. As it is I think I'll pick up a pair of whatever as a stop gap and bring it to him after I have the guitar parts done. It needs a recap as well and although I can do that myself, he did such a great job with the 1200s i'd feel better having him check out everything in the amp.

Mine is hanging around still, but I use the website so rarely these days that I have to log in each time I do.

I've got a Crybaby that I'm halfway to modding into sound like a Tycobrahe. I don't plan on using it on my board, but more for running my Microkorg when I wanna make noisescapes. Wet and syrupy.... Exactly what I'm hoping for.

Holy fucking shit. I wouldn't gig with it, but I'd love to lock myself in a room with that and an 8 track.
