In that situation turning up the Henge to where it can be heard with the rest of the band causes wicked breakup. It's glorious breakup! But it's just wrong for the job. A master volume would have alleviated this only I'm too big a ninny to think shit through beforehand.

This is exactly the reason I had Nick build the Naki like he did. NMV but completely clean up the dial, by the time i hit any breakup it would drown out the drums, and it sounds mind blowing with dirt pedals.

Dude's got problems if he wants to trade anything for a JCM900. Yuck!

Clean headroom is where it's at for dirt pedals. I'm not telling you Skip, I'm just repeating it for the greater good.

D should find a buyer for it. Killer pedal amp. Could tune the gain down more of course with a 12au7

Minimum gain could be had with 12au7 in v1 and v2

I think the latest Converge is better than No Heroes. But its hard to pick favourites. The final five songs through Coral Blue? Monstrous.

Today I will contribute something doom to the Doom Room. UZALA! http://uzala.bandcamp.com/album/uzala

They're recording at Tad's this weekend and I got the tingles contemplating.

D-Day wrote:Well here's a lousy story: One time I went to visit my mom. We heard something bumping against the house and one of my dogs barking. Turned out that one of my dogs had killed her cat. I was deeply bummed out and was getting all misty and she just fired off "well that cat wasn't around here for long anyway" and put him the trash can. I was blown away. Here I am holding back tears over the life of an animal while the owner of which (my mom!) had converted it to waste in a millisecond. People!

In unrelated news I played what is likely to be the last AW practice for the Stonehenge last night. Man alive that thing sounds so good with the fuzz. If only I could get my stage volume/distortion right without it. I'll miss it when it's gone

Yep. My parents were that way with cats when I was growing up. I actually only named a few cats since we had fucking terrible luck keeping one alive for more than a year.

And I wish I had the cash and reason to own the Stonehenge. It's actually my favorite amp that Nick has built aesthetically.

GODDAMMIT I WANT THAT SO BAD MY BALLS HURT

Fuuuuuuucking hell. I've had such a struggle putting in my new speakers. I thought one of them was broken, and then thought I'd busted up 2 dummy speakers and a Swamp Thang. I can't explain what the fuck was going on in that cab, but something wasn't wired up right. I had to gut it and rewire it from scratch, and it was a completely different layout to what it was before. Whatever it was, was NOT series parallel.

The Governors sound cool though, they make up for the lack of mids from the Swamp Thangs.

This thread is going so fast I've got catchup homework to do later on. Anybody else into Atriarch? Forever the End is one of the best things I've ever heard in terms of atmospheric funeral doom but Ritual of Passing just sounds like a totally different and much thinner sounding band. The bass tones on the first album are so deep and dark sounding especially with the heavy use of reverb the the second album just got thin and strident. Forever the End is so good it makes me want to start a band playing bass and using a bunch of reverb on it.

Surprised this wasn't mentioned before. Also couldn't you just mod the pre amp to be cleaner? I have no idea how that works. I know yuo could mod a jcm800 or plexi for more gain so I only assume it to be possible to do the same but with removing gain.

It's as clean in the circuit design as its going to be. Swapping tubes is also much easier
