Shit dude, even though I was only there for ILFest, that room is a memory of happiness and community. It sounds really painful for you, too, having all those memories connected to it. I hope you guys can find another place soonryan summit wrote:stay tuned for final shows you new york fuckers

If you aren't already, use the index and pinky to cover 'em all instead of trying to twist three fingers on there. It's way easier over most of the fretboard, imo. The problem for me is keeping myself from doing it on guitar.kbithecrowing wrote:Left wrist hurts. Stupid fucking 34" scale, you do not make power chords easy.
That's how I always play power chords on guitar. I know it isn't 'proper technique' but it works fine.Achtane wrote:If you aren't already, use the index and pinky to cover 'em all instead of trying to twist three fingers on there. this place gave me a second chance(3rd?4th?1000th?)
at an actual life
i was giving up 3 years ago
right around this time of year
by the heat wave i was homeless and strung out
listen
i know i go on and on sometimes or alll of them
and i force you guys to read vertically(think jfk)
rambling anectdotes of my miserable life
but i got really lucky
how i am where i am i dont know
and im real grateful
and john and his lil corner of the planet
have alot to do with it
so im fuckin bummed
and until we find another jam spot
im left to my own devices
which has never worked out well
but i got 5 stringed instruments in the house
a ton of work lined up
a girlfriend that id give limbs to make smile
and my ilf
no excuses
but that place was the coolest
im glad i got to be a part of it
dream come true for a dude like me
34yrs watching people on stage
sayin i wish i could open up for them

On guitar, I use my ring finger, but on bass I definitely use my pinky for power chords from about the 9th fret down.monkeydancer wrote:That's how I always play power chords on guitar. ^You could try a shorter scale bass? Or a thinner neck maybe, I don't know if it's a good idea to stick with the 34" if it's really that uncomfortable though.
