My car needs $600 worth of work, and it's, wait for it, paint. I scratched another car, it's minor ( in my opinion) but $600 is not, and another $1000 for the other car is fucking ridiculous. Unreal.

So presumably you guys have seen this image around the internet.
NSFW: show

I've been reading/hearing from people who think that, because the institution that provided this quiz to the ten-year old that took it, is a private school, that it's all good and 'who are you to tell them what to teach at their school?' and so forth.

These people are knowingly fucking their kids over when their kids end up in the real world. Disgusting.

I hadn't seen that, D.o.S., but you don't even wanna get me started on what I think kids should be taught in school. Practical subjects, practical subjects. Like how to manage money & finances, how to raise children, how to properly care for your pet, how cars and computers work (both together and separately), how to act civilly when conversing online, things to do other than watching TV, the difference between love and sex, etc. These're important things that most people don't understand and probably should.

This is so true... I went to a selective high school and still was never given a proper understanding of any of the things you mentioned. I'm only in my first year out right now and I've felt consistently unprepared for so many things over the last few months.
I remember going to a PUBLIC primary (elementary) school and still having to bring in a note from my parents to get out of compulsory scripture/christian religion stuff class...

Agreed, but science and logic, too, because that's how you can decide for yourself what's true, instead of trying to decide who to believe. Really important when there are a lot of contradictory ideas being stuffed down your throat. Which may be why there exists an anti-science sentiment. They're like,

NO, IT DOESN'T HAVE TO MAKE SENSE, JUST BELIEVE IT!

I'm not anti religion, but religion with science is like religion with politics, not at all like trout with Mountain Dew.

LEAVE SCIENCE ALONE!

Haha I'm at a selectively high school now and I'm about to finish and feel absolutely unprepared for the real world
All of the stuff mentioned would be so so handy to know

I still have to bring in a note if I don't want to attend scripture

Pretty sad that critical thinking is considered a university level skill. Three other things I would like to be taught specifically is are the difference between the common language usage of theory and the usage in reference the scientific method, they are fucking different! Also different logical fallacies, people should be able to spot things like negativity bias, regression to the mean and straw man arguments. They should also do a course on Cryptids cos the chupacabra is real and he wants to eat you. Omnomnom.

Bro. Totally. Drop bears and shit and the snagglepuss... Ok so I made the snagglepuss up on a rafting trip once, he's a giant catfish that snags your fishing line. 90% of all snagged lines in the Avon are due to the devious and undetectable SNAGGLEPUSS!

I ate a whole bag of who-knows-how-old cough drops last night, and was awakened this morning by a great need to poop fluid.
