10/10 thread. Implosion is a blast to behold (pun intended).
So much to say, but...who gives a fuck. The only thing I want to add is that the anonymity we have here is a game-changer. I have this conversation about once a year with a room full of people, and it devolves over the course of about thirty minutes. This took the equivalent of what...two minutes?
And, Eivind:

True. The political tone on this forum has started to lean harder and harder toward... something I don't particularly care for, but people are allowed ti believe bc whatever fuck authority, just ain't my thing.

I hardly found this thread heated as far as the debate. Why does everyone shy so far away from disagreement and just want to delete everything. It's how you learn
I appreciated hearing everyone's viewpoints and the nice thing is a lot of us are from different cultures and countries so we have different perspectives. Even if I disagree with some here I still see where they are coming from.
IDK I just don't get why everyone is so uncomfortable.

I suggested deleting the thread because it was revised in a way which may alter the context of replies posted before the fact. Yes the titles of individual posts remain as they were, but who reads individual post titles within a thread, in quoted post back & forth when trying to follow a discussion?
Prior to the rename, I interpreted OP as more than his anecdote venting about some asshat troll looking for fault in a woman bodybuilder he didn't like.
Fat shaming is expected in competitive bodybuilding and relevant to its entirely visual spectacle of vanity. In this case it was already pointed out, the criticism was made to sound spiteful, like the dude was looking for excuses to hate for attention.
Also suggested it because jwar seemed displeased, thinking he created a monster. He didn't...just muddled one's lore with self censorship. He begins OP talking about the PC movement, which is in fact a monster, one which seeks to redefine words and ideas, using them to shame, guilt & coerce the *wrong thinkers* into submission and ostracize them from the group which they wish to lead. The whole point of PC is making everyone tangibly uncomfortable in the name of intangible comfort so the authoritarian can get their way.

Huh? I thought PC was implemented to decentralize authoriarian rhetoric. Just took it too far in some cases.
There does seem to be kind of an odd vibe in a couple of these threads. Gonna think about what it means.

I apologize if i am a broken record, what IM seems to be getting at feels on a similar trajectory as what i tried to posit here and elsewhere. PC culture has become a monolithic force that i hate, but the general base seems to still hold.
Do: Listen to people with different experiences than yourself, treat people with respect and dignity, trust people (who are worthy of trust) when they tell you they experience adverse circumstances you may not see or experience (but also let's investigate how we determine who is worthy of trust).
Don't: Bow to attempts at social control, even if/just because they are coming people who have different experiences than yourself.
I don't know. I trust that everyone hre is fine people. Jwar and I couldn't be more unalike in many social distinctions, but he seems like a fine person a lot of the time. We would probably disgree on a ton of social and political things, but that is alright. Sorry to single you out, Jwar.
Not all women are worse off than all men, anyone telling you that is peddling political snake oil. Other side of the coin, the vast majority of women i know (or feminine men, gay men, trans and gender non-conforming folks and other stripes of marginalized people) have experienced shit that would make many people's head spin. And it has been on the basis of their gendered bodies. It is worth considering, just if one wants to attempt being respectfu,, and it costs you very little.

There's lots to say, but I want to sleep. One thing that occurs to me...like it or not...is posturing that comes with politicized discussion is less than ideal. Not trying to be a dick. It seems to run counter to philosophical generosity to try and 'win,' or disagree with force disproportionate to the subject.
I also have heavy bias. I live and work in academic circles, and busted ass to become 'credentialed' in my microscopic and irrelevant subsubsubfield. I am literally the world expert on my chosen bullshit, though no one even knows that it exists, let alone to ask about it. And I still feel like a fucking idiot 99% of the time, even when I get to play right in my wheelhouse.
What I'm getting at here is that I get the impression that equivocation is out of style. Maybe it's Trump's rhetoric slinking into people, but there's something oddly singular and fascistic about being so sure about something that one's logic is unassailable. Debates are cool, but I don't really learn shit from people who seem blissfully unaware of the history of things they have strong or ossified opinions of. Present analysis, even your process, but fuck your conclusions. The wise man knows himself to be a fool, and the fool thinks himself wise.
Forgive me if this seems elitist. Not calling anyone in particular out. Just a trend I see both at large and in growing proportion in dark corners of the internet like ILF.
Love,
Ralph Ellison

The first generation of sheltered western children who got participation trophies and have been convinced "you can be anything and do anything because you're special" "everything you do is important and so are your feelings" while growing up with social media shrines to themselves have now come of age and have children of their own.
I think most of society's problems come when one person is convinced they know what is best for strangers, how to live their lives. Seems this is common in sheltered narcissists who have been fawned over & catered to all their life, convinced of greatness without merit.
The latest you've-gotta-be-kidding-me example of PC nonsense by an idiot unilaterally deciding what should/shouldn't be seen by people.
Hello tracergate.
TL;DR
"Hey love that spunky assassin and how good she is at murder...but my little daughter might get the wrong idea in seeing her sprite's fully clothed bottom in a victory pose after killing. It sends a bad message."

I went from this guy
To this guy
In a little under two years. Went from the 150-160 range to taking a nice hard look at 300. Granted I'm still gorgeous but thats not the point. People give me shit for being fat. Its whatever man. Its really just because they see a target. They want to give someone shit and it doesnt require a whole lot of wit to make a joke at a fat persons expense. I had a coworker who was pretty notorious for it so one day I waited until he had something to say to me and replied "You know, I've been skinny and I've been fat, and a lot of things have changed for me. But, and this is the interesting part, one thing that has stayed the same is that your wife still sucks my cock as regularly as she always has". It was great because he and his wife were getting a divorce because he walked in on her sucking someone else's cock.
So there you go. Don't be a target. If you appear weak and easy to fuck with, people who's wives suck other guys cocks are going to give you shit because its easy and they are fucking morons. Remind them of this.
