Hahaha, thanks for the support. My initial target of $150 is downright laughable at this point. All this first wave stuff is basically written off as investment in word of mouth advertising. That's what happens when I open the presale gate before the design phase is fleshed out. I'm very pleased with where the circuit has wound up (unpictured first built which has had stuff pulled and reinserted to the point at which it's fucking ugly to look at, which is why there are no pics of that one).

That said, I have been taking my time on this, which is exactly why none have shipped yet. About to launch into another five hour session and see where I am on the ass end of it, but they are very close indeed.

An observation I have made in regards to the early smoke finish that is not on top of a rust etched substrate: The smoke particulates adhere to the clear finish more than to the metal, so when I have spinning shavings from drill out that fold back it makes a circle, like this:

I plan on covering those blemishes up with a washer, as pictured, but sort of despise that compromise as I prefer cleaner lines like this:

So yeah, until my drill process changes the mainly smoke & metal finishes are going to be a rarity. I still have some catching up to do regarding contacting some of you for finish choice, I'm hung up on an unreplied email.. does Men Behind The Sun live here?

I like the circles more than the washers, to be honest.

Hmmmmmmm. It's somewhat embarrassing from a detail quality point of view, but I suppose I should let the affected parties make the call.

Not sure if it helps your drilling or not but I have prevented damage to painted enclosures that I had to add extra holes to (input and output jacks are so over rated honestly!) by covering the area to drill in a couple of layers of masking tape and drilling through that, then carefully peel the tape off otherwise. That prevents damage on painted boxes, obviously that might not work on your more experimental finish.

In another way, some scraps of cardboard on the press, pilot hole drilled, drill from the inside out so you only scuff internally. All the sides would have washers anyway? :idk: it looks so bad ass I cannot wait!

Masking tape, so simple and I've used it tons of other areas... why not this? Great idea, slapping my head over here. THANKS!
