Mine should be coming at the end of the month or early March! Keep an eye out of Yahoo Japan...it came up yesterday and I snatched it. Oh and thanks futuresailors for the From Japan recommendation. They are much easier than the way I used to do it (why I gave up).

Nice, congrats!

If you use EMS, it'll be at your door in like a week. (usually like ~3 for them to process the shipment, 3 days for post).

I've always used EMS and it's always been the most reliable, least hastle shipping ever. I've been importing records and video games from Japan for a while. I guess I always felt like pedals were "higher stake". Excited! Someday I will get that multi noise processor though

Anyone try this one? Seems interesting for the $100 price tag, but this is the only demo I can find.

I'd say that's a lot more 'musical' than most things in it's price range -- which is actually way more useful than it might sound.

And that Gif is amazing.

Yeah maybe I should just take the plunge and get one to fool around with.

I found the gif on Giphy, there's a few more like it:

But I digress...

Do any of you guys do more "structured" drone? Like work it into specific songs/parts in a consistent manner as opposed to just letting things drone and develop? I got a handmade electronics four step sequencer recently and I've been using it with the maximal drone to build a rhythmic pad sort of thing behind melodies as opposed to percussion, sometimes adding in the volca beats for some actual percussion.

TL/DR: Is drone pop a thing?

Well, uh, how do you feel about traditional Indian music?

This is probably the closest thing to "drone pop" I know of but they're probably not using drone boxes hah. I haven't listened to it much but I am now and it's pretty sweet.

Not drone pop (more like post-rock) but maybe you'll like the 'bridge' in Cloud. It's about ~2 minutes of 'drone' before the main thing kicks back in (and eventually goes into overdrive).

The drone-inspired bit starts at about 2:42. Yes it's my own band, no I didn't just sign up to the forum to spam my shit everywhere :duck:

DOS, that's part of where I got the idea, I just don't have a great frame of reference for it. I'll have to look into more though.

KBI- that band is rad and very similar to what I'm talking about. What I'm doing currently is a lot slower/dronier but well within the same wheelhouse. Thanks for the heads up!

Oscillo- Your band is rad, and I can imagine using things in a very similar way in a band setting myself seeing as I mostly play stuff on the heavier/post rock side of things.

Also if you haven't already you should explore some Throbbing Gristle.
