The bigness, for me. It just makes everything sound so huge and sinister.
Christian, you run a sort of tighter and stiffer sound though, so I can see why you aren't into that.
I also noted you posted somewhere your disdain for the Orange sound, whereas I really dig that, as well as saggy loose sounds like old bassmasters and what not, which leads me to the question: is that what your ear prefers or do you seek those toanz out because it suits Whores better stylistically? (that is in no way a dis on the Whores sound, I fucking love it, but I could not for the life of me make that sound good like you do. Like how some people make Rats sound great but I make them sound like a bucket of assholes.)

spray some contact cleaner in there and work it back and forth. the one I have will rebound if fully depressed unless you hold it down, and is just generally wonky. I got it because of the stereo feature but I think it's going to get ripped apart and rebuilt or redesigned if needed.

I snagged a Ritual during his Tax Season sale because it was cheap and a chance to nab a circuit that I really adore (the coloursound one knob, which is more or less a fuzzface/meathead). Plus the build quality is tremendous.

I'd echo the build quality comment. I've tried a few of them. I like the Pharaoh> (Anything else)>Revelation setup. In between is currently a QM or a Volt Thrower. It's been that way for a while now and I kinda doubt I'll find much better at this point. The LSTR, I didn't like as much as the pharaoh, more high end gain, a bit more modern sounding, but it might work better for what you go for. The Oath, just WAY to much volume on tap. I built a looper with volume controls just because of that pedal, and it worked and sounded great, but ultimately the revelation does the same thing and is more tweakable.
I've never been disappointed with anything from Mark. every pedal has been usable, and I think has only been replaced on my board with other bat stuff.
Here's a few pedals that have not stayed due to the BAT stuff working better for me.
The Elements, Bluebeard clone, LWA Left hand wrath ( I should have waited for the Dunwich version, I thought it might compare, it doesn't) BYOC big muff, tubescreamer, OCD, odb3, etc. shit I forget.
They just tend to sound really fucking good.

I'm still gonna keep the one I got off skip, because hoarding.
But I don't know what my problem is.
Just can't get in its grainy, vermin filled pants.
No game.

To be fair, they work really well as a dirty boost into a dirty amp...just not as well as the pedals I already use for that.

And re: the BAT thing. I dig the Ritual because I like fuzz face style pedals in theory, but never get along with them once I have them - something about the Ritual hits a happy medium for me where it fits in my rig better than my Disaster Transport or Dream Crusher did (even though I still maybe need another Dream Crusher...you know, to crush dreams with). The Pharaoh...I like how huge it sounds and the Ge mode is really rad. Obvious muffness, but a little bit different/better than the rest for big, meandering riffs.

Hm, y'all are making me want a pharaoh. I've been thinking lately, maybe I want to change my fuzz? I like the Wampler leviathan that I have, but I dunno, I just want something different. I'll see if I can get it traded to a supercollider or a pharaoh or something.
On the rat issue, I find that my rat sound best like this: high volume, 10 o clock-ish gain, filter past noon... And then into a giant reverb

Sonny makes magic, for sure.

Have you played around with any variations on the Meathead?

i loved the meathead deluxe that i got to play. would like to find a good sounding clone for cheap 'cause i just can't shell out the kind of cash they go for on a fuzz.

Depends on what you consider cheap, of course, but I'm sure someone in the shark tank would be able to hook you up with a pretty inexpensive version:

Negatory - I figured if the Ritual didn't work out for me, then I would get some cash together and wait around for a Meathead to pop up for a good price....or get a clone.
