yurp. she is an attttttractive lady.
it's really neat because it's actually very much in service of the movie.

This is more of an opinion thing, but I really like movies like that for the artistic aesthetic, and the blank space created by the long shots and minimalist dialogue. I also like it when they don't give you all the facts about the story, and you have to piece it together. It forces you to think.

Re: I Love Film
I'm pretty disappointed that Lucy apparently sucked.
Are you into other Luc Besson movies? Leon? 5th Element? Or has he just lost it?
I wanted to see what happened when she hit 100%.
Downloaded The Signal last night. Looks pretty nuts. Will be watching that one tonight. We're letting my kid see the Lego Movie first.
Into The Storm looks like fun. Did I mention it before? Too lazy to go back.
I saw Gravity. It made me want to puke, even in 2d. I can't even imagine that shit in IMAX 3d. Space is fuckin scary.

Re: I Love Film
Yeah I'm disappointed with all the bad reviews of Lucy
I was really excited for it even though the science in it is terribly inaccurate, which usually kills a movie for me.
5th Element was a brilliant movie though.
On the topic of minimalist dialogue and story I really enjoyed Drive or Driver (whichever one had Ryan Gosling in it)
And on the topic of Ryan Gosling I really enjoyed the Place Between the Pines. Such an interesting way to tell a story.

Drive was good. I was surprised. The only thing I didn't like was that right when I thought the movie was really taking off, it ended :/

Haven't seen Lucy, and might not, due to the pseudoscience. This came up on my FB page regarding it.MrNovember wrote:Yeah I'm disappointed with all the bad reviews of Lucy

Re: I Love Film
yeah. all the "science" bits were fucking awful. like, distractingly so. they show her SEEING CELL PHONE CONVERSATION AS A VISIBLE PART OF THE SPECTRUM, which. you know. whatever. but every stream of data is leaving the phones STRAIGHT UP.
it was just a bad movie. and she was horrible in it.
5th Element is a bad movie too, but a good one. i love Besson. they're crap, but i like the Statham Transporter things, Leon is PERFECT.
Gosling is cool. i liked the Beyond The Pines, his character felt like if the Driver guy ran away and started a new life to hide from Crazy Jewish Mobster Revenge.

Re: I Love Film
at home i'm watching FullMetal Alchemist for the first time, the Brotherhood edition, which is a slightly compressed (they cut down on filler episodes), redid graphics version. kinda loving it.
and at work watching the Pusher trilogy. picked up the remake bluray, was a'ight, didna even know there was a first version. and the og first movie is almost the same scenes, but SO MUCH BETTER. either the actors cared about the script a lot more or the director instilled the right amounts of enthusiasm.... dunno. but while the remake was meh the og is kinda AWESOME.

Enter the Void. Such an underrated movie. I'm a fan of Gaspar Noé's work in general, but this one is just over the top and trippy as f00k.

Re: I Love Film
Just remembered a film (and book) that I really enjoyed.
Perfume: the Story of a Murderer
I initially caught part of it on TV one day and it immediately drew me in

Re: I Love Film
Perfume is awesome. and it's not freaking available on bluray in region 1 and the dvd is like $50. which i don't understand.
...... and Heavy Metal is really, really shitty. had to turn it off and read instead.
