Then the promised $10 "put a banner on my web site" never materialized, which takes a whopping few seconds to do. I'll chalk that up to a tip for enjoying the Devi stuff I do have.

I loved the old products but there was nothing really new after the Test Pattern and Circuit Breaker and ..it was obvious there wasn't the drive any more.

Then the cost-cutting came - the SMD, the 'no more chaos switch without special order', etc.

Ah, well, I hope somebody responsible takes over the business. Love the stuff, but the drama got old. I didn't care about the music or the video games, I just liked the pedals, and once it shifted from that, /game.

It was a case of "want to buy product without buying the person" after a while, and the two couldn't be separated.

I still do love the products, don't get me wrong. I really truly do. They let me have noises my board would not make otherwise, and for that I'll be grateful.

I just hope whoever steps up does it right and goes back to basics.
Totally agree. I've gotten some great sounds out of my devi pedals over the years. Sounds I haven't gotten from any other pedal. But for the last year or so, it seemed like the products were no longer the focus and what made them cool in the first place (custom stuff, chaos switches, a constant variety of new flavors to try, not to mention reliable, hands on customer service and solid quality control and battery snaps) dwindled. Hopefully, whoever takes it over can get it back to what it once was and maybe reissue old designs or make custom designs more available.

i mean, not to be a dick, but if Devi Ever FX totally just disappeared i wouldn't care at all. i've never loved any of her stuff to death, and the drama was so silly and ever present....

if BriBri stopped making loot, or Aen And His GrrL poofed away or Wren & Cuff went under.... there's like 30 builders ahead of Devi and her silliness that i would be bummed about.

The non-ironic irony of it is that her initial goal was $20,000 via Kickstarter and that's what she says she spent on the project.

In the 17 minute rant where she talks about the actual operation being the last thing she needs (I think its a rant tied to the kickstarter where she explains all the gifts for donations, youtube is blocked at work or id try to find it.) she explains in fairly graphic detail whether or not it does and her reasons behind it. I can't remember as the video was so long ago.

+1 - Yeah, that's what struck me about it too. She initially asked for 20 grand. She claims she spent 20 grand on the console. It's not done. So it was screwed even without blowing another 20 on "personal expenses"

That 20g on "personal expenses" is absolutely fucking disgraceful imo. Totally and utterly unforgivable. I don't get the good will around here really with that. That's just outrageous behaviour. Refund or not.

This is why kickstarter is so fucking stupid. I'll never support that bullshit. I'll do pre-orders, but not a kick starter. Even with pre-orders, it's gotta be from someone I really trust. Look how Ryan did the ILFDD. I even suggested to him to do pre-orders and he wanted to wait until the product was done or near done before offering it up. That's a business man.

I'm about to drop a fuck ton of money on a venture for Acid Splash Designs, but there's no way I'll do a kickstarter. It's called getting a loan.

I completely get where you're coming from, but if I had a small business that I was looking to expand I'd at least try kickstarter. If it's underfunded, I could go get a loan as planned; if I met the goal, I essentially have a bunch of risk-free capital to spend. I don't know the exact legal ramifications of "defaulting" on a kickstarter campaign, but I'm sure you have a lot more flexibility with "repaying" people with their rewards than you would with loan payments. Just my $0.02 :idk:

I'm sure if you offered etched pedals as rewards for start-up capital people would be all over that
