You can for sure and I ponder it all the time with my builds.. the catch is you kind of need a frivolous amount of extra pcb space to fit a switch in since the mix expression requires 3 separate connections. So you'd need the 3 for the mix jack, 3 for the mix pot, and then a max of 3 for whatever else you want to connect.. a 3PDT switch for the pcb.. and those switches are big, 20 to 40 square mils, not easy to squeeze onto an already jam-packed pcb.

The processor inside a pedal like the TimeLine is different than the Spin FV-1.. the Spin has many more limitations, many less inputs and outputs that can be worked with... the kind of micros that the big guys use to make the super powerful pedals are almost a different kind of beast to the Spin and how it's set up.

So it's a decision of what to control and I personally think wet/dry mix is the most powerful/versatile/useful/musical.

What if the parameter were controlled by a control voltage and you that way you would only need I dip switch per exp out? But I'm sure you may need extra circuits to have the parameters controlled by a CV it could be kinda a pointless comment... Synth guys would love it for sure though!

I hadn't thought of a ring mod but that's a cool idea... I betcha I'll make a BitQuest ring mod patch for sure! Maybe not for release.. but maybe... but definitely down the road. Thanks!

One thing we've been forgetting regarding the expression input and control etc is the fact that the pot has to be wired to the jack too... say you were switching between CTRL1 and CTRL2, two digital controls that only need the wiper of a pot switched.. if you had them connected to a switch to choose them, whatever one you didn't choose would be disabled on the pedal panel too, the pot wouldn't work. You can't really switch between these controlling elements when they're also main panel control knobs as you leave them disconnected if you aren't choosing them with the switch, they won't work at all then.

I spent all day yesterday working on the BQ and the pcb and I think I'm gonna not do the expression control for analog mix... I think it's more fun if it's CTRL1. You can then use your foot to vary filter freq, cutoff freq, notch freq, delay rate, reverb length, crush depth.. all those fun parameters will be very powerful and musical using a foot pedal.

But it'll still only be one.. just CTRL1. The thing is, if a person had really specific needs and needed a certain parameter assigned to a certain control, or say they wanted to run the gain and not any affect parameters, then I could switch in the software what CTRL the expression jack would be connected to, say make the gain CTRL1 instead of CTRL0, or make a gate CTRL1 instead of CTRL2, in the programming.

That all make sense?

I'm thinking the BQ will be $250 but I'm also thinking that in the price will be included a tweak or two. Say over time there's more BQ patches, I'll update yours to whatever patches you want and mail you the new memory chip free. Or say you get your BQ and wish Patch whatever had more or less whatever, I'll tweak yours and mail you a new memory chip free. So you get a little future perk in the price too.

I'm close to that stage but still right in the middle of a ton of house-keeping details etc.. I'd say only one or two patches are 100% done, lots are 75%, last patch is barely started. Soon as I get a proto built and have 8 working patches it'll be demo time!

Pcb layout is done too, just double checking it today.

FUCK YES^!! Adventure time anything on this would rock.
I also realy like the idea of being able to send chips back to you to personalize the pedal. I'm glad your getting in on something new I'm sure it will help keep Dr. Scientist around for a long time!
