I finished East of West vol. 1 last night. I'm hooked. Going to pick up all the tbp's and start collecting individual issues of both that and Black Science this week. I just picked them up because truthfully I've mostly given up on Marvel and DC except for the odd book here and there and have been wanting something new.

Funnily enough they both remind me of something I would have read in Heavy Metal back in the '70s-'80s.

I'm also kind of digging Code Pru, but am on the fence yet. Gonna pick up a couple more issues and see if it hooks me in more. Ennis's writing is awesome, but the female centric titles have always been hard prolonged sells for me. I'll follow through a storyline or two and then lose interest, because @ 44 idgaf about girl problems.

I'm definitely going to be following up on ODY-C. I love Greek tragedies, love a good retelling done well, and I'm a child of the '70s, so psychedelia is right up my alley.

Shit, just read the synopsis for Empty Zone. Between that and the art I'm already pretty stoked to check it out.

Indeed--the Empty Zone art is really some of the best out there at the moment, and thankfully the story stands up right alongside it. It's most excellent.

I'm so happy there is a comic thread already. I thought I remembered there being one, but if there wasn't I was about to start it. I've spent the last 2-3 years slowly getting back into comics, after not really reading much since the 90's. Was mostly into Marvel (X-Men, Spider-Man) and Image (Spawn) in my youth, and those two publishers are still my favorite although I do love Vertigo a lot as well. Other than Batman and Wonder Woman (when the writer focuses more on mythology/fantasy elements), I am not really into DC.

Grizzly Shark (Completely absurd. I can't get enough.)

Saga (I know it's so trendy and hyped up, but it's my absolute favorite comic series of all time.)
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl (Hilarious and charming. Especially if you are familiar with the Marvel Universe.)

X-Men: Worst X-Man Ever (Fun mini-series.)

Some older stuff I'm working through:
Fables (Damn there's a lot of volumes of this series.)
Hellboy (Love the minimalist artwork.)
Irredeemable (About half way through. I don't think this series gets recommended as much as it should.)
New X-Men (Battling it out with Whedon's Astonishing X-Men for my favorite X-Men spot. Recommend them both.)
Sandman (Never read through the whole series, so it's been a real treat to start it over from the beginning.)
Sweet Tooth (So close to finishing. I'm a big fan of everything that I've read by Lemire so far.)
Uncanny X-Force (One of the best Marvel series in my opinion.)
Y: The Last Man (Just need to buy the last deluxe hardcover and I'll finally be done with it.)

It's completely overwhelming to think about all the books that I own that I haven't even touched yet, plus all the books that I still want to buy. I'm finding it difficult to keep up with what's new when there's 20+ years of backlog that I am trying to catch up on. On the flip side, it's easy to not care about, overlook or ignore some classics when I want to read all the amazing stuff that's consistently being released.

This week I signed up for ComiXology Unlimited and Marvel Unlimited as an affordable way to check out some titles in order to see if I want to spend the money investing in the trades/hardcovers down the road. Also, way more convenient than filling up a backpack full of books for when I am traveling.

I just unpacked a bunch of books that had been in storage including all my old trades. It made me want to find newer stuff, too. The last new series I loved was Sweet Tooth.
I've had a Marvel Unlimited subscription since last fall and I'm just about caught up on the stuff I've been interested in. You might consider the Soule She-Hulk run if you like Squirrel Girl. And Fraction's Hawkeye is essential.

Ugh, that She Hulk run is so good. I have that Fraction Hawkeye, but have yet to read it.
I so far behind on all my subscriptions, but I just started read Doctor Strange - The Oath. Liking it so far.

The Winter Soldier series by Ales Kot and Marco Rudy was actually surprisingly interesting. It seems like it could have been written as a standalone space scifi spy adventure and they just stuck a Marvel skin over it. Lots of random noise music references, for some reason. I have no interest in that character but I checked it out after I loved Rudy's art on a Doctor Strange book.

I have Fraction's Hawkeye as well. I'll get around to it eventually... hopefully. I've been thinking about checking out that run of She-Hulk. I recently signed up for Marvel Unlimited, and let's just say my reading list is now a bit
