Clapton is one of those musicians that you have to separate his early stuff from his later career. I too despise that overly clean sounding blues sound. Basically, as soon as Clapton stopped doing drugs he completely lost his musical integrity.

Prince is quite possibly the most underrated guitarist of all time. Even if he is crazy and doesn't believe in the Internet. And Tom Petty is the most overrated musician ever. I don't hate him, I just think he's insanely bland. Some of his music is so incredibly uninteresting. It doesn't sound like he's trying to do anything interesting, just punching the clock.
