It looks beautiful and shows off you visual style but that's only half the story You should show some more gut shots too, your wiring is so good, I think I've said a few times that I would hang a photo of some of your gutshots on the wall framed as fine art.
Last nights show was fun, altered seas was a killer band and we hope to get to play another show with them soon. I felt bad man, the band after us was kind meh. the guitarist/singer looked like a huge jack white fan and most of the folks who came out for us left during their set and didn't get to check out the next band they wold have liked. Kinda ticked me off, those guys still were not playing after we had all our gear out of the building and loaded tetris style in the van (not a simple feat!) took nearly an hour to set up and play and then didn't make it seem worth the wait.
I had asked Darren for advice before our first show and he said something to the affect of" set up and tear down fast" GOOD ADVICE, as we play more and more shows I find myself really paying attention to that and noting the bands that kinda screw over the acts that follow them and not wanting to do more shows with those guys.
Totally true on setup/breakdown. If you take a long time it sucks for everyone else. People who aren't in bands get bored, and people who are in bands get irritated.
I've been on bills with bands who have each member responsible for their own gear. Great idea in theory, but that drum kit will make its glorious return to the band van a thousand times faster with all hands on deck.

If you turn your master all the way up and adjust volume with the gain it's essentially the same thing.
There are a handful of MV heads that have really delicious preamp overdrive, though.

yeah but axman
the whole reason i was diggin a tradetang lp
is cause of your 12 string
i barely ever play this bass
and i really wanna do a stereo pickiup project
a chinese lp would be perfect for that, no
im gonna end up mangling it somehow
so i either do a real cheap like epi lp jr
or a decent chinese one with no sentimentals
than if it comes out right itll be a good player
if i go $99 epi lp
thats what i end up with in the end
i dont fuckin know

that things cool!
so without mentioning a specific guitar, what do you want to end up with/what all do want it to do and have? I bet if we put the collective DOOM hivemind behind this we can figure out the best cost effective way to come up with the ultimate SUMMIT WAR MACHINEā¢
So, lp shape, stereo outs, what kind of pups are ya thinking? bigsby, floyd rose, hardtail? belly cut? upper fret access?
I built a kit lp to basically be les paul axcess on the back and addded and arm carve on the front. most ergonomic lp ever.
If you want to get crazy, a kit might be the way to go.
Edit: Dammit Summatt! You got me staring at that thing and thinking all it needs is p90's, new bridge and nut and a modded bigsby and adding it all up for feasability.

Somebody else buy that so I'm not tempted!

I'm getting a second Dunwich!!!!
Originally called the infamous "Weed Wizard" (told you you'd hate everything about it DOS!) we now affectionately refer to it as the NMV or non-master volume Wizard. A local friend of mine (Scott from The Osedax) is currently in possession of it but finds himself favoring his Matamp GT120 and Sunn Model T. I was talking to Nick about amps when I remembered he had tried to sell it previously, so I hit him up and it was still for sale and only 10 minutes from my house. So he brought it over tonight and I love it, its actually a pretty stark contrast to the Naki. We jammed out using the Quantum Mystic and my Skyhammer pre with our flying V's and my Dearmond 7 string. The NMV Wizard loved the quantum mystic as you can hear below in a short clip but sounded too scooped with the skyhammer, while the Naki loved the warmth of the skyhammer but wasn't too fond of the Quantum Mystic. All in all I fell in love and its pretty much exactly what I wanted short of maybe a shift control like the naki, but I really didnt find myself missing it. So as soon as my Hiwatt sells and I scrape up the last hundo or two it will be coming to its new home and staying in the family.
Here's a short little clip of Scott playing his stock Epi V tuned drop G through the quantum mystic into the NMV wizard.

P.S. it still has the green LED's.

Nah, you didn't...
I was not expecting another Dunwich...

Feels good. I think I'll be picking up a Twin Reverb to be a bit more versatile.
Twin Reverb = win. Dual Showman is better because it's a head and cooler but it's the same amp.

Looks awesome. Simple and effective.

Me too... except, it's harder to find amp dirt that I like compared to pedals.

Same. People kept telling me to crank the master and use the preamp as the volume, but it never worked properly, not on high gain amps like a Soldano or a JCM800. Even the Hiwatt Custom 100 I tried possessed a little white noise when you maxed out the master and used the preamp volume to control the overall level. I'd rather just buy the right amp in the first place.

Which is why you should buy an NVM amp.
"too much hiss" is subjective measurement of a noise floor from player to player, but you can try swapping around preamp tubes, especially if there's noise when there's no cable in the input jack.
I absolutely disagree that 'master at full volume to taste' doesn't work with high gain amplifiers, but YMMV.

i had a weird feeling after it wasn't whiskey's orange that it was going to be a secret dunwich somehow. i should have posted that, but i didn't feel like posting on the internet. anyway, good score. i'm pretty jealous of that one.

well grab a cheap set neck kit and have TJ build it up to your taste and you''ll be good. hell if ya want I'd do it but I think he has way better skills than i do. I mean I routed for the floyd with chisels as I didnt own a router at the time, its pretty rough but its all in the right place.

as fr the floyd, a little effort in the beginning and you get rewarded with a bullet proof system that pretty much never goes out of tune. It's just the initial learning curve that throws people off on them IMO.

It's not that it 'doesn't work'. It's that it's not the same sound as an original NVM amp. To me it doesn't sound the same, and I can't deal with the hiss. I'm not alone here.

NICE! But if you don't get some kind of green light up faceplate for it I will drive to DC and punch you right in the neck...but only after we go deaf playing some sweet ass riffs.
ALSO HEY EVERYONE LOOK WHAT I DID!!!! My daughter Maggie was born on Thursday night. No air guitars like Skip's girl yet, but she is still super rad.
