Coven would rule. Though if I could get my HM-2 and BF housed in one enclosure that would be the bees knees.

Hey doomers, quick question:
If I just make my Acoustic 408 clone just a box, without the angles on the back, would that affect the sound much?

the belle looks good for sure, but I got an echorec and im not sure the belle really adds much to what I have now. wouldnt mind getting a free one though of course haha

on the 408 cab, IT would lower the internal volume by a small amount and thereby change the tone and the resonant frequency. It may also affect how the sondwaves hit the rear panel and disperse throughout the cab.

WIll you hear a difference? Probably not lol.

i think the doomsayer and the redemption are two of his coolest designs. i've really struggled with the idea of getting in touch with him for a guitar. i've had the pleasure of playing a couple of them and they're amazing. he seems like a cool guy too. my hesitation is that i think his designs may just be too out there for me. i really like classic shapes and have never been much of a pointy guitar guy. he won't copy other guitar shapes and pointy is really his specialty. it almost seems like it would be a bit weird, or the wrong fit to get in touch with him and try and get him to make a more conventional shape. i do think some of his guitars look cool, and i like pointy guitars on other people, it's just hard to see myself playing one.
I was a little hesitant myself as well, but just went for it and emailed him what im looking for, he's very down to earth, I wouldn't be shy to ask him for any mods, at the worst he will say no and thats that!

For awhile I had been searching for a Les Paul like shape that I would be able to have the builder do an ash body with a walnut top and maple neck through. Was unfortunate enough to play an Alembic guitar in that configuration a few years back and nothing has compared to me since.

The Croatoan ends up being exactly what I was looking for, same overrall shape as an LP with a few modern touches and the build got 3 thumbs up from Brent, I have no doubt it will exceed expectations and get me the tone and responsiveness I loved so much in the Alembic that I could never afford in 3 lifetimes. Plus im 1/4 Croatian so it must be written in the stars...

I agree, tradition is best, and the right mind can pull the right tone from just about anything, but I want something special I can pass on to my kids, something that the same pride and care I take into constructing my own music is put into.

All that aside, it did take me about 3 years to finally settle on a model I wanted due to the extreme body shapes. Didn't want to step on Kelly or Scheidt's toes with the Nomad...Floyd's with the Morningstar, pretty much just knew I didn't want to grab any model I had already seen put to good use...then the Crotoan pops up and the choir began to sing...

Make the Angles, Yeah, with the angles it's slightly less internal volume but we Have the Sunn 412LH (just a box) as well as several fridge style cabs. The ones with the angled top and bottom are much easier to move around. I was considering getting rid of the 412LH but then tony wanted it for the bass rig and with the new 2x15, that works out.

having handles on the top angle and wheels on the bottom one, it's just so much better.

Id say its worth the extra effort to make the angles if you can do it strong and brace it well. moving an angled cab is awesome, I moved a 4 15 like it was nothing thanks to that setup. If you dont feel like it though, I dont think youll see any negative effects..

Again, I have left it too long to chime in for a multi, but again, nothing but redness going on.

That dickhead song was hilarious. I hate hipsters. What the fuck is with hipsters going to Om shows now?

Hey conk, where do you find the sweet spot for your Duncan Distortion is? I have one on the bridge of my iceman and it covers all bases pretty well. I have a dimebucker on my more "metal" floydie iceman, used to be in the other one. Fucking killer for gain and sustain. Great for long as shit chords.

I'm also considering flipping my supa puss for either the belle echo or echorec....can't make my mind up.
The malekko 616 dark was up for consideration also.

Oh yeah, and my parts for the sovtek arrived last week and one of the big caps came with a broken lead....grrrr.
And I was a dickhead (no, I don't wear leggings) I ordered the wrong size can clamp.....grrrr.
So only 3 parts are stopping me from getting stuck into it, as I just wanna do it all in one hit and not be fucking around with it for weeks.

All this custom guitar talk is very interesting... It's fun to make a list of features and then see if it can be made into something somehow.

Like semi hollow, no middle pickup, hot P90 neck pickup, vintage bridge humbucker, wrap-around bridge, locking tuners, one volume, 3 way switch. I saw a custom strat online with a solid rosewood neck and that looked awesome.

Custom Tele maybe? I've seen a few with dual humbuckers and tuneomatics.

Ps. For the guy who wants to pair down to only 2 guitars? Screw that. Get a guitar stand that holds 7 guitars and keep them all. Wire up some GFS pickups in the Epiphones and you're set.

the supapuss and the belle are pretty different but cover the same territory, the echorec is a whole nother best entirely with the multihead mode, i own the puss and the echorec. THe belle looks sweet and I kiiiiinda want one, but the puss and el cap kinda have those bases covered I guess, plus im running out of space now...

Thanks TJ. I might see if my mate is keen to let me dick around on his echorec, compare it with my puss. I like my supa puss but I also feel a little meh about it sometimes. I don't think it likes being hammered with the black forest. How does your echorec go with high gain and volume pedals (you got some BAT stuff don't you?)?

Ive got a badascan but it goes to amp 2 and doesnt tough the puss or echorec. Its strong with my setup but not over powering. I use amp gain so i have the pedal turned down a little more than you would with a clean amp. works amazing with a dirt in front with my buddies rig but I dont roll that way. Though its one of the only delays ive ever gotten to work out front my gained out amps, I think youll be just fine with one. My puss is turned down like all the way on all the knobs just to be useable haha

The echorec had a internal gain/preamp pots too so you can finetune to your rig. Ive yet to even get in there and touch anything.

Cool man, you are starting to sell me on it...yeah I find the puss to be hard to dial in just right, which is ok sometimes, you can get some interesting sounds. It does this really annoying this where the initial repeat is all clipped out sorta sounding, then the rest of the repeats are nice. I know analog delays can be glitchy, but my old malekko Lofi never did that...kinda shits me.

Absolutely post pics of the 408 build! I love seeing stuff come together, how people approach and solve problems and create a new thing. TJ's cab is just fucking stunning. so cool that he shared that with us.

Chamberpain, I dont know you yet (or maybe i do :idk: ) but a Huge thank you for that pic, It really solved my problem and the cab is back to stock specs now.
Skip, in case you were wondering, there is a switch similar to what Rickenbacker uses to activate their "Rick-o-sound" where it is activated by inserting the plug into the jack. that's how they have the in and then choice of series or parallel outs. A nice little bit of work actually. Really simple and usefull.

Thanks! also, thats a really interesting wiring idea. Makes that cab way more versatile.
