I have to say, I feel like a newer, better person knowing I've found this small community. I've been through a lot of music genres in my 24 years, but this kind of metal has felt the most comfortable and the most 'me'. The Doom Room is great and everything. I love it to death. But it's the knowledge that there are people in every corner of the earth as passionate about music as I am, and are free of egotisms, that's what does it for me. I can make friends wherever I go. I also love that each sub-genre is still respected and appreciated. I could post a clip of Skip's old band, Parker's band, and Darren's band and it'll all be lapped up like cats and cream. It's hard to find that. Many musicians within specific genres despises anything that swerves from the course. But it's all music in the end. My top twenty list of bands is all over the place. It's all music, and Doomers recognize this better than most. They may have preferences, but they also respect the origins of rock music and its many branches.

I just play unplugged when I'm in the house and can't be bothered to go out to the music room with my gear. Certain guitars sound really crap unplugged, but my Strat sounds nice without any amplifier or colouration from FX.

Ancient Warlocks and Mars Red Sky (from France!) will be in Los Angeles Thursday, October 10th. We have the Five Star Bar on hold for us but no bands to play with. Any ideas? Ideally we'd have a local band open and another one headline and then we and MRS play in the second and third. Supposedly this is an artwalk night so we'd get to deafen a larger cross section of the general public than on a normal Thursday night at this place. Hit me up and let's rock!

One of my friends got his first guitar repainted candy apple green, but it rained on it a bit. The painter sprayed some gold pearl over it and it was one of the prettiest guitars ever.

Warpigs into the Lo input? Lo inputs are slightly 'hotter' so you can run low output PAF's and single coils without losing the signal you'd lose in the Hi input. If it sounds better to you then all the more power to ya. From a guess, it's probably not the way the amp was probably designed. I always use the Hi input because I prefer medium output pickups. My Strat always goes in the Lo input though so that the signal is the same as humbuckers.

My amp must be different, the Lo is attenuated down for high output pickups, and the high is a Hi gain input for low output guitars.

I've been working on this song for a long time. Large chunks are improvised and our cello player was missing (our violinist switches to bass about half-way through). I just can't seem to feel satisfied with finishing it. Some of the parts needs to be a bit more spiced up, the heavy part in the middle needs more stoner hands of doom. Anybody willing to offer some constructive feedback? It was just recorded with a cheap iPhone accessory mic and it was probably too close to the drums.

about 06:00 this happens, but slower than I would like, a more pounding aggressive beat would be a nice counterpoint, but that's to my taste.

09:30, riff starts to happen, could use more definition, but that may be the mic? I like how it fades in to become more cohesive as it goes.
11:20 I am composing a lead (ish) bit in my head to go with it, slow bending notes with wah or phaser, not sure which I would use, but it could fit there.
12:40 deserves extreme low frequency note of death before the softer part.
14:15 I remember I am trying to write you a critique, I write more, to tell you I like this part. Part should be longer before next part

22:12 ends, one more than Rush's best work. Nice. I now listen again without worrying about thinking and giving impressions. I really enjoyed this.

Fucking well done man. I tried to be as critical as possible but found myself zoning out to it a lot, which is what happens when I listen to good music of this ilk.

Angry, I really like that semi hollow guitar with the tele pickup. Too bad it is $6k. I have a tele pickup and a gfs p90 bridge pickup and have been wanting to build a guitar around that set up but that is a future project that I don't have money for.

I really liked it. It is as you say a few parts could do with a bit more work and give it a bit more structure. I'm sorry I don't have any specific comments as I just listened to it in the background while I was doing some other things but overall it is good.
